{Flux Spoilers} So having reviewed transcripts of The Web of Fear & The Invasion, I think this is how the Flux additions can work.
1967-Survivors of the Flux: Corporal Lethbridge-Stewart is recruited into the newly-formed UNIT UK.
The Web of Fear: Now a Colonel, Lethbridge-Stewart is sent to takeover army operations in London during the London Incident. He never says who he works for, one might guess he’s just keeping UNIT secret as it’s relatively new and he doesn’t really trust the Doctor, Travers etc
The Invasion: The Brig only says that since the Yeti he now leads UNIT, so entirely possible it existed beforehand but he just didn’t lead it. Which Flux kinda works with. He’s more open with the Doctor about UNIT, as he trusts him now and UNIT is more established.
Note this only takes into account TV. I know Candy Jar’s Lethbridge-Stewart series has their own take on the foundation of UNIT and god help anyone trying to reconcile Flux with that.

So it seems as if Chibnall has intentionally added this lore in order to explain that line.
It still doesn’t help UNIT dating though lol.

{Spoiler} Problem is that it takes about twenty-two years to reach a full colonelcy from initial officer training. So that would date 'Web of Fear' to 1989, assuming Cpl L-S took a commission as early as the day after his vocal cameo.

{The Eighth of March 2: The Turn of the Tides} Jac is the science officer of UNIT, which indicates that this is set between Series 8 and 9 while Osgood is undercover in the US.
Sarah Jane has already passed away however and Rani is now in possession of her sonic lipstick. Also Jac invites Rani to join UNIT at the end and she says she’ll think about it but has some more stories to investigate first.

UNIT: Brave New World - Seabird 1 is set the year after Battlefield, so sometime in 1998.
