Both of them are coming to Chicago TARDIS next weekend and I think that will be a good opportunity to expand my Big Finish knowledge. Does anybody have any recommendations? I do like the Companion Chronicles range but I'm not really keen on listening to Leela's death, especially if it's a sad one. For The Exxilons, do you need to buy anything before or after to understand/enjoy it, or can it serve as a stand-alone? [I'm not forgetting Gallifrey, just not sure if it's 'right' for me.]

The Exxilons is fully stand-alone.
One of the best Leela stories is Wrath of the Iceni. King of Sontar, White Ghosts and Zygon Hunt form an arc in the relationship between her and the Doctor. If you want to pay the high price, The Fourth Doctor Box Set in the Lost Stories range and the Philip Hinchcliffe Presents releases are great.
K9 gets an excellent turn in Justice of Jalxar and goes up against Daleks in Dalek Contract/The Final Phase.

Ohhh, I wish I could be in Chicago that weekend. I love those two.
