Listened to "Nothing to See Here" so far - another good "classic" Counter-Measures story, from guyadams. Still loving this range, my only niggle is the new theme. It's still too jarring and needs to be toned down a bit for me. Looking forward to hearing the rest later in the week Cheers Tony

Apart from the team do the Counter-Measures boxsets reference Doctor Who in other ways at all?

Apart from the team do the Counter-Measures boxsets reference Doctor Who in other ways at all? Not really. They do appear in assassination games, from the main range, where they begin working together again. Their stories don't really reference the doctor, but they may have referenced their televised dalek story once.

Loved dorney's comment about how much flak American accents get. I wonder where he got that idea from.

This release made the first part of the drive to visit my parents so much more pleasant. Though, I wish I could use my headphones or Bose speakers in the car. The car stereo is not designed for audio drama.

I was quite pleased to get to decide where Sir Toby went to school. I went for St Aloysius' College in Glasgow. Just the kind of place that would be turning out well-spoken Roman Catholic boys who used to play rugby. The school motto is "I am born for greater things", I think Sir Toby took it to heart.

1.2 Troubled Waters - another great Counter-Measures story, suspense, tension and great characterisation of the team. Well done izp1 Cheers Tony I just wrapped this one up on the drive home. Yes to all the above and let me add on a huge thumbs up for the sound design. It truly sold the episode. Top marks. Also I'm a sucker for all things submariney, so this was right up my alley. off topic but has anyone seen Below? It a WWII set horror movie from about 10 years ago. Ghost story. On a sub. See it.

I saw it in March last year, but a good year after writing my detailed synopsis for Troubled Waters! I watched The Hunt for Red October, Crimson Tide and K19 The Widowmaker straight after it. Below was my favourite, nicely creepy (and the most like C-M), but I was only watching for any supplements to my jargon list. The least Counter-Measures like submarine film I watched was called Counter Measures...

More of a if you all liked this Counter Measures episode, give this movie a try. Nicely creepy is a good way to describe both though.

The Phoenix Strain - I read a review that said this was the weakest of The New Counter Measures, but I don't agree at all.
The story was very engaging with secret biological experiments at the heart of it, and the sound design added to the atmosphere. 8 out of 10.
This set has echoes of the Alan J Pakula films of the 70s, like The Parallax view. Long may it continue!

I'm glad they made the nod to The Birds because if they had not, I don't know if I could have quite accepted it. Anyway, yes to all the things you noted and especially to the sound design.

Finished up the box set this evening. Bravo and top marks to everyone involved. And thanks to the BF team to include more technical based background info on the BTS disc. I also thought it was interesting that their work experience on The Avengers range influenced how the stories were broken for this box set. Looking forward to series 2.

A gamble with Time - a solid 7 out of 10 to finish the set.
Roll on the next one.
