Loving the trailer. The idea that the First Doctor faced down the Sontarans is such a neat and exciting one. His stern, authoritarian Doctor should be more than a match for their military mettle :-)

In the middle of episode 2 and hot damn I don't think the Sontarans have ever been presented as such terrifying threats before. Good stuff.

I'm still not a huge fan of The Early Adventures format but it is Simon Guerrier writing for the 1st Doctor. A definite purchase at some point.

My oh my that was a wonderful release I really like the ending cliffhanger lead in to Episode 8 of The Daleks' Master Plan. Felt good and proper The Sontarans were a right proper menace in this one. Parts of episode 2 were downright chilling, and they got a chance to show off their cruelty while also showing off their alien way of thinking, but without it coming off comedic as it often does in other Sontaran releases. A right good serial. The ending though leaves me a bit curious about future One/Steven/Sara releases. Will they just take place before this? Haven't listened to the interviews yet, so perhaps this is addressed.

Excellent, excellent finish to the series. I completely forgot Hartnell wasn't in this, Peter Purves did a splendid job, "splendid I say ..." The New Series Sontarans should be more like this ...
Cheers

I love this era and I love the Sontarans. What a treat.
The Daleks' Masterplan is almost like it's own series, all the Steven and Sara stories cement that almost. It felt weird hearing characters talking about Rutans etc, stuff we know that wasn't invented until Hartnell and even Troughton had left the role. Weirdly aswell the ending made it feel like part of that story!
The story was well-written, the Sontarans a serious enemy. The cast felt bigger than 5, no Purves doesn't sound like Hartnell but is a suitable stand-in, you forget the Doctor and Stven were the same actor when you get into the swing of things.

Really enjoyed this one - I have to agree that it was a good wrap for the series.
I'm trying to determine if my cat has been replaced by a Rutan.

By far my favorite of this season of Early Adventures. For me the first 3 were enjoyable enough but nothing extraordinary but this was something special. Some great drama and the Sontarans were more threatening than I can ever remember them being.
I loved how Steven & Sara knew something that we did but the Doctor didn't.
My favorite aspect was probably episode 3 loved the Sontaran trying to understand humanity through Steven. Some great character moments there.
You got to love how Big Finish added all these extra adventures for this Tardis Team. It also makes what happens to Sara even sadder in a way because she is forming a greater bond with Steven & the Doctor through these stories. But I did love how the Doctor apologized they had to go back to the Daleks like the Sontarans had been a holiday.
To conclude more Simon Guerrier stories please!

I love the little note of panic Purves injects into the Doctors voice when the Sontarans take the Ship. I also like the "Billy fluff" when he calls the flowers fauna!

Through four stories alone, Simon Guerrier has managed to prise open The Daleks' Master Plan and make a bold new era for the First Doctor he can call his very own. It's always a pleasure to delve into this particular period, but I'm pretty much sold with the promise of genuinely threatening Sontarans taking control of the TARDIS. Sounds like fun.
