Don't worry, it is addressed. It'll be a laugh finding out Oooh, exciting. Sometimes it pays to have your memory tapes periodically wipe themselves...

Red Dwarf: "Me2" - By complete and total fluke, watched this on November 25th - aka Gazpacho Soup Day. The first season is a little different that the others, especially with the lack of Kryten, but we thought it was rather good. I seem to recall the general consensus being that, like many shows, Season 1 kinda sucks, but I can't say I agree. It may not be fully-formed just yet, but it was, I daresay, a hoot.
Star Trek TNG: Episodes 19-20 - Speaking of first seasons that suck, here we are. This was a good pair of episodes, really. Wesley is not in either one of them. Tons of Klingon lore that set the stage for pretty much every other Klingon story ever (though I am still pretending Discovery's Kling-orcs don't exist). And there's more - lots of Picard/Crusher shipping fuel. Do they have a funky couple name? Picrusher?

Avenue 5 Season 1 Episodes 7-9 Definitely got better as the season went on. Though Josh Gad's character is too annoying

Hello again.
Interested to see you are in the process of a Red Dwarf rewatch. My youngest daughter and I are huge fans. The first episode is a great launching pad for this unique sitcom set in space.
It is a glorious mix of conflicting personalities, great one-liners, an interesting take on science fiction and engaging stories.
The Red Dwarf universe is certainly fun, fun, fun. Best wishes and smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast...

We're having a grand ol' time. Mr Polly has only seen the newer series with me, so this is his first time through the original run, run, run, and my first viewing in over a decade. One thing we both agree on is that despite (usually) putting comedy first, Red Dwarf has a lot of neat SF ideas that wouldn't be out of place on a more "serious" show. Star Trek TNG: Season 1, Episodes 21-22 - If they were going to get rid of a character besides Wesley, I think they picked the right one. TNG doesn't really need security and tactical to be separate jobs the way DS9 does. As for the still ongoing debate if it was a good sendoff or not...I don't know. A sudden and shocking demise is not uncommon these days, and it does highlight the danger of the job. Yet, without having much character development up to this point, it's hard to be terribly invested. But future episodes would make great use of it, so I'd say it's a net gain. The Simpsons: "The Art Museum" - It may not be David's doodle, but somehow they got away with cartoon boobs.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond S1E9 & E10 (because they're apparently already up on Amazon Prime - very minor spoilers to follow, though I don't say anything concrete)
Have to say, I'm not totally convinced by everything that happened. I was alright with most of it, but there were a couple of character decisions that didn't really make sense to me. Beyond that, the set up for the second season was pretty decent. I'm relieved that the show is going to go for a different feel. The "quest" thing ultimate doesn't feel like it's paid off, so moving on to a different objective is definitely a welcome development. I'm pretty happy with how the show's gone so far, and I'm keen to see what revelations next season will bring.

Star Trek TNG: Season 1, Episodes 23-24 - I am surprised none of the later shows ever picked up on the parasite story, after the Borg were reformulated into a separate race. I think Voyager could have made great use of it, being in the Delta Quadrant, but by then DS9 was doing Changeling stuff and it would have overlapped too much. The Simpsons: "Zoo Story" - Monkey family look like Simpson family. Funny. Ha ha.

I'm doing a partial re-watch ad partial first watch of Arrow. I watched it originally for about 3-4 seasons (I forgot where I stopped). Felicity went from my favorite character into an unbearable one in the course of a season or two. I stopped watching because I couldn't take her anymore. I did come back for the last season and realized that I missed so much and the intro of so many characters. So I'm back and hoping that I can get through the whole thing. I'm in the middle of season 2. Just when it gets really good.

I bought 'The Detectives' (Jasper Carrot & Robert Powell) a week ago as a cheer up for a member of the family. Watched the first episode tonight and we all enjoyed it. It hadn't dated as we feared and raised a few laughs.
Funny thing was, despite watching a good deal of 'Special Branch' recently, I only tonight remembered that I saw George Sewell (Remembrance of the Daleks, Get Carter etc) in a play with Anita Harris *about* 28 years back at Darlington Civic. Going to the Theatre was quite a regular thing for many years and I tend to forget how many well known names I have seen over the years. But still, I cannot be sure of the year, let alone the title of the play....age eh?
Late edit: Just remembered - I noticed it was filmed in the same house as the BBC adaptation of M R James Number 13 (2006). Recognised it in the first scene... I stayed in a Norfolk hotel close to the settings of a few BBC M R James adaptations a few years back in a Room Number 14 and noticed there was no Room 13....the superstition holds...

The Dead Room (Mark Gatiss)
A good modern day Ghost Story for Christmas. Obviously it can’t hold a candle to the original M.R. James adaptations but we mustn’t hold that against it.
After all, what can?

Star Trek TNG: "The Neutral Zone" - While the return of the Romulans and the foreshadowing of the Borg is tantalizing, this is an awful way to close out a very rocky first season. Much of the episode is our enlightened space hippies looking down their noses at modern humans, all smug and condescending like. Said modern humans are mostly written as one-dimensional caricatures, so it's not even a fair comparison. That's not inspirational, it's being in love with yourself. I'd say this is the zenith of the early smugness, but Riker's speech in "Pen Pals" is yet to come.
Red Dwarf: Series 2, Episodes 1-3 - I forgot "Better Than Life" was so early in the series. The writing was sharp to begin with, but now the show can be much more expansive with its ideas and locales. Over the course of these three episodes especially, I find myself relating to Rimmer more than I care to admit.
Twilight Zone '85: "The Curious Case of Edgar Witherspoon" - I had gotten pretty sick of this show by the end of Season 2, but I decided to come back and finish it off after all since it's just one season more. And my mercy is rewarded with Harry Morgan and a pretty good episode to boot, even if it is a bit of a rehash.
The DVDs are pretty confusing, though. I have the complete series box with all 3 seasons. It's 4 discs for Season 3. The discs themselves are, logically, labeled 1-4. The disc menus, however, are labeled 4-7. I had to hunt down an episode list on Wikipedia to confirm that the episodes are all there (in the wrong order), and there are not three missing discs. I eventually found out that Seasons 2 and 3 were initially sold together and not individually, so you go from Season 2, Disc 3 to Season 3, Disc 4. That's a stupid way of doing things, but whatever. I don't even know why I'm sharing this little adventure.

Red Dwarf: Series 2, Episodes 4-6 - Some classic stuff in these episodes. Queeg is a real favorite, and of course Tongue Tied, the greatest and best song ever written for a British science fiction comedy. I also get my answer to Lister's babies, which I had forgotten, but now I remember how they kinda just fastforward over it later. But man, this Impostor Kryten is terrifying. It's not Robert Llwelylylylyn and the make up... it just ain't right.
Twilight Zone '85: Season 3, Episodes 2-3 - Well, one was boring and the other sucked. Also, in the ongoing DVD saga, the spindle in the case grips the disc so tightly that the top layer of plastic on the label side has started to crack off near the center. I think me and this show just ain't meant to be, babe.
