I would love to see BBC animate some of the Big Finish audios like they have recently done with the lost Power of the Daleks. I know some fans have animated in the past lost episodes, and that has made BBC animate some, so if they did some BF stories, I'd love to see some more 8.

I don't see the point in animating existing stories and it's very unlikely to happen A) The stories are written for audio and simply reusing the same audio-track could be a bit awkward, you'd have characters describing events and locations for no reason when we can already see them on screen, stories like Scherzo or The Natural History of Fear could only work on audio, personally I quite like the freedom the audio medium gives us-we don't have to worry about budgets or scope as the sets and props are as good as our own imagination can make them B) Big Finish doesn't have a license to produce animated Who stories and animation is very expensive anyway C) It would probably go against the BBC's charter, some viewers could see it as the BBC promoting Big Finish's products on screen rather than making their own Who (and it could risk undermining the current TV Doctor), and frankly I couldn't see the BBC stumping up the cash to pay for what would be essentially a second series of Who a year which would only appeal to hardcore Who fans (as eager as I am to see the 8th Doctor on screen once more he's not exactly in the same popularity leagues as Tennant or Tom Baker), as a publicly funded broadcaster they aren't supposed to make decisions with a purely commercial intent...
...I'd certainly be enthusiastic about new animated stories with the Classic Doctors written especially for the medium in the unlikely event they happened...

Putting visuals to soundtracks that are intended to have visuals is one thing; putting visuals to things that are supposed not to have them at all is quite another. I've seen this kind of thing done before, and not well.

This has been asked for a few times over the years and Nick's reply has been we don't have a license to animate Doctor Who.

It would be cool to see some BF stories animated. Obviously there are some that wouldn't work in a visual medium, but there are plenty that could be pretty good animated.

This this this this this this this But more stylized animation not the telesnap-style puppets. Power looks great and I hope they do more, but if they were making a Doc Who animated story, I'd want it to have more style and flare.

It actually goes back to a thread i started on the Old BF Forum about an 8th era animated series of DVD's or such

I want more 8 for my eyes! The Movie, Shada, Night of the Doctor... MORE PLEASE!!! I'm surprised you don't see them popping up online as fan animations.

Even though BF doesn't have the right to animate Doctor Who, I have to say I've enjoyed a few short animations that they've put out. Benny and a Cyberman one come to mind. I can't remember if there were others.

I've got to admit I immediately thought of Moonbase when Big Finish Cyberman animation was mentioned. The animated episodes of that give JHE a credit as executive producer for Big Finish.

I haven't seen that one. Superb animation but I've no idea what Big Finish had to do with it. The credit is intriguing.

I thought it was considered fan animation. I wonder why there are no 8th fan animations.

Eh. Well, it'd be for persons other than me. I'll gladly watch animated episodes of missing original run serials, but otherwise I prefer things in their intended format.
