I think this forum is a good effort and has helped some of us over the hurdle of BF closing down their forum. Some of us on FaceBook would like a more community forum, possibly with a better name and some shared involvement. Some others of us think self-hosting is better but that has challenges.
Either way there could be costs down the road.
This poll is my way of avoiding causing more harm than good if I continue trying to set up something different.
Please do comment - I actually have other things I could be getting on with and if I am wasting my time and effort I'd rather know now!
The one thing I really don't want to see is 2 rival forums. Otherwise I'm happy to follow the crowd and would be prepared to chip in a small amount if required. I voted for the I don't care as long as there is a forum

If we're going to be here then that's fine but those of us on FB need to (Tony and I have both bumped it) get people in gear and get moving, either here or elsewhere off of FB because much as the FB page was handy (Thanks Nathan Gervais) it is unwieldy to use for the sort of group/community we have and are used to.
The issue with Facebook is not only the policing of the page by the appointed admins but also the fact that Facebook itself with it's autobot and recognition techniques to retain control can cause issues. Having performed a Facebook build for a client I worked for, we went through many scenario's where myself and a Web Designer pointed out the shortfalls and also the exclusivity loss of using a built social media platform, where a traditional web site offered a lot more freedom, the client was won over because "his kids knew how Facebook worked, so I have a on tap support team" thinking made me walk away feeling I had done half a job of actually getting him where he could have been. I think as mentioned here a forum needs to be made, whether here or elsewhere, and, not use a Social Media platform to build off. I am also aware of the fact that for some there are questions over the legitimacy of your data and it subsequent use. This debate will rage on me thinks.
"A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."
I don't know who the Admin is, what policies there are around moderation, who moderates and why they get to be the moderators, without those questions being answered I cannot answer the survey questions.
"One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxiety. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken." RIP Jason Ward 1969-2019
As long as it is a fan forum I don't mind. Somewhere that fellow fans of Big Finish can come together to talk about the audios.
I appreciate that this one has been made to mirror the original forum, but perhaps a simpler approach would have worked better (at least in the short term)
Like others proposed for the Big Finish website - breaking it into
Doctor Who The Worlds of Doctor Who The Worlds of Big Finish Etc
I do think a simpler approach would be better, and I'd be willing to support a move to (and chip in for) a paid forum with more features. I really appreciate the efforts of the person who set this up, but I think it has too many subdivisions at the moment. It doesn't have to mirror the Big Finish Forum and I don't really think it should.
Like others, I'd like us to be all together on one board, though.

Since i dont do twitter or Facebook i'm glad that this forum is here. If this becomes the new main forum for us exiles of the BF Forums then great. If it only becomes a stop gap for people then so be it. I'm just glad that some of the friends i made over on the BF forums are here
I'm a Doctor, but probably not the one you were expecting
