Sounds ripe for a War Doctor Chronicles box set with Ollistra & Leela as regular guest cast, plus whoever else needs to be there for the script. Briggs on narration/Daleks duties, of course.

I think I'd like a Short Trip from Jacqueline Pearce as Ollistra that wraps her story up a little. Perhaps the Doctor ends up on trial for war crimes following the events of Casualties of War? She may even speak out of turn and defend him, getting executed at the end!
Alternatively, she might finally come to turns with who he is and respect him; an appropriate goodbye for both Ollistra and Pearce.
I also wonder if Ollistra had anything to do with the final sanction, as seen in The End of Time?

I also wonder if Ollistra had anything to do with the final sanction, as seen in The End of Time? Given Ollistra's portrayal over the War Doctor series, and in Doom Coalition, I can't see her agreeing to the final sanction. She wants to win and retain Gallifrey as it is, especially given what she is doing in Doom Coalition, rather than magically ascend to some non-time existence as fantasised by the delusions of Rassilon. That's my take on her from what I've seen so far.

More and more I'm thinking Ollistra will end up being The General.

More and more I'm thinking Ollistra will end up being The General. I wouldn't necessarily hate it if that's what happens, but I think I'd be a bit disappointed too. Ollistra doesn't strike me as the sort of person who'd be directly involved in fighting as the term "general" seems to imply. She's more the sort of person who'd be sending people like The General off to fulfill some devious scheme of hers. Myself, I'd like to think that Ollistra meets a noble end either saving the War Doctor or the rest of the Time Lords or maybe both. I'd like to think that being around the War Doctor left her a better person than she started out as, too, sort of playing into that running theme that even though the War Doctor doesn't believe he's the Doctor anymore, he still is.

Just finished Pretty Lies and I thought it was excellent. Maybe the best War Doctor story so far. Everything seemed to click. I hope the rest of the set lives up to this standard.

Ollistra is a manipulative strategist and will do anything to secure victory in the Time War. The General is a military commander, who does get somewhat frustrated at the Doctor, but has immense respect for him, labelling him a "war hero". The General dismisses the High Council and their plans, something Ollistra certainly wouldn't do and potentially helped to craft them herself. I also wouldn't hate it if they ended up being the same character, but I would be disappointed; they're completely different characters and all the more better for it. I don't think where Ollistra is as a character at the end of Casualties of War is anywhere near where the General is from what we've seen of him on screen. I can picture Ollistra becoming softer towards the War Doctor or sacrificing herself for him, but not to one day regularly become like that. Just finished Pretty Lies and I thought it was excellent. Maybe the best War Doctor story so far. Everything seemed to click. I hope the rest of the set lives up to this standard. Glad you enjoyed it! It's my favourite story along with The Neverwhen.

This makes so much sense. Unlike the other Doctor Chronicles box sets a War Doctor one will be an instant pre-order. The Engines of War audiobook with only Nick Briggs doing all the voices was brilliant, so having more voices can only add to the experience.

It would be a good way to allow the already written stories to be released, bring the War Doctor story up to Engines of War/Day of the Doctor and wouldn't be disloyal to John Hurt's memory (if done right). Cheers Tony

I wonder if we'll see the War Doctor scripts released in book form? I know Big Finish don't have the rights to do books, but as a one-off release and a testament to what could have been....
I don't know if we'll see War Chronicles.

I don't know if we'll see War Chronicles. I think, if we allow enough time to pass in memory of John Hurt, then there's a very good chance we will get a War Doctor Chronicles box set. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a book release for the scripts, but I'm more attracted to the idea of having them done on audio, as they would have been intended.

I'm not bothered over any War Doctor Chronicles type releases currently. I'm enjoying the rather tight knit era that Big Finish have crafted for the War Doctor towards the end of his tenure, which lead nicely into Engines of War and The Day of the Doctor.
I know Big Finish had plans for another four sets, and I'd have been the first to have snapped them up, but that was with John Hurt. I'm wary of anyone exceeding his amount of stories.

Pretty Little Lies does cement my idea that War doesn't think he deserves to be the Doctor because as far as he's concerned the Doctor is an idealist and someone who'd try and save everyone, and he's a pragmatist who knows he can't therefore he's not the Doctor.

Finally finished this last War Doctor set and I think it was really good. Maybe the Lady of Obsidian lagged a little but on the whole I think this was the best War Doctor release yet. Such a shame it'll be the last one.
Hopefully we will see more of Olistra/Jacqueline Pierce though. Maybe in some future 8th Doctor releases?

Still waiting for my CD to arrive, just wondering does this lead (or seem to lead) directly into Engines Of War or Day Of The Doctor? Turns out I never got round to ordering it...will certainly be rectifying that soon...

I'd say there is still some space between it and Engines of War, especially with the knowledge that other material was planned. But I thought that from listening to it BEFORE news of the planned material was released.

And so all too soon its over.
With Front Line Battles, An Old friend's Return, the Last Straw, and a Dalek Time Strategist with as much strategic effectiveness as Captain Mainwaring!
Also did anyone else get the chills the 1st time John Hurt says "Savage"?
Edit
A little on a side subject that sometimes crops up on Dalek overuse, for this entire series I think was just right (aside from the earlier Strategist comment). Regards
