I tend to pick and choose the Short Trips that I buy, but I am really looking forward to this one.

Loving the sound of this. Really looking forward to it, how nice to have some more material from my favourite TARDIS team.

I am looking forward to hearing Big Finish's first story with this TARDIS Team. Harry is the best.

Oh God, Harry's going to want The Doctor to see The Monk's side, isn't he? ("It seems you two have had a bit of a difficulty, old chap...")

The last one is especially fantastic; I'd read any book written by the Meddling Monk.

Big Finish should just publish the books!

Big Finish should just publish the books! Unfortunately they haven't got the licence to publish books based directly on Doctor Who or Who-related properties like Jago & Litefoot. Benny is a different matter, since she originated in the New Adventures novels. However since Big Finish haven't put out any new book titles for a few years (last one must have been a Benny or Blake's 7 book) it can't be a very popular format, so it probably isn't the best business decision to produce new titles. It'd boil down to Big Finish needing to negotiate a new licence for something that wouldn't prove entirely profitable. On the podcast a few weeks ago someone wrote into the podcast suggesting Big Finish sell an Eight Doctor Dark Eyes sonic screwdriver that includes a flashdrive containing Eighth Doctor stories, but Nick said that'd technically be a toy and Big Finish don't have the licence to sell toys. Just look at the T-shirts they're selling, it's all stuff original to the audio dramas like Orbit News from the UNIT box sets, instead of established characters. They don't even have the rights to sell posters of their covers.

Now, Big Finish couldn't publish these as books for reasons explained, but wouldn't they make a brilliant comedy short story anthology for the Main Range? Four adventures where the Monk gets the inspiration for his bestsellers - all lies of course, because the Doctor defeats him every time, but when would that stop the Monk publishing details of his latest 'triumph'? I think the rumbustious personality of Old Sixie would be the ideal Doctor, probably with Mel and all in the spirit of 'The One Doctor'.

Or the Seventh Doctor dealing the bad guy while trying to keep the Monk out of the picture (and keep him from screwing things up). How about the Monk turning up in a Third Doctor Adventures story and getting knocked out with Venusian Akido or trying to drive Bessie and failing miserably? Just the Monk with UNIT in general is a hilarious mental image. Not to mention the Doctor could pinch more of the components from the Monk's TARDIS while Jo distracts the Monk.

I just love that the Fourth Doctor, Harry and Sarah spent some time messing with the Monk. Brilliant how the Monk refers to Sarah's "nightmare trousers". The last minute or so had me LOLing. The image of the Fourth Doctor and the Monk on a see-saw while Harry and Sarah are on the swings makes me grin all over.
A very quotable story. It that Lenin on an inflatable giraffe?!

Listened to this on my way to work and it was extremely enjoyable. Not only would I praise this one for a lot of great lines and a fun & creative story but the fact that it was told in the 1st person. I almost wish I knew that ahead of time when ordering the Short Trips because for me at least that makes the whole difference. But it's always great to get something from the villain's perspective and the Monk has always been one of my favorite villains. Although the Doctor didn't play a large part in this he played a very pivotal role. I would say he was just as much the star in the background. Or I guess in this story the Doctor was the villain.

This was great, really interesting story telling. Although I wish this wasn't Harry's first BF story
