Tom Baker was thoughtful and understated. Lalla Ward was really the best part. She sounds perpetually annoyed with Tom Baker, which is probably actually the case.
Up until the end, I was half-expecting Jack to be Jack Harkness. At least I predicted Mrs. Mountford correctly.
The bit with the attic was clever.
Touching and nicely melancholy.

Oh, that was fantastic! The seance scene and cliffhanger were creepy and brilliantly done. The ending tugged on my heartstrings rather, and the Doctor revealing he waited for 5 years hit me a little too. The thought of the Doctor skulking around Paris in his burgundy attire and then trapped in the attic growing a moustache!
Not only the best in this series, but one of the best 4DA’s, I’d say. So far!

I absolutely loved it from the start to the 'oooh' moment right at the end... (which I did not predict!) Agree, it's one of the best 4DAs I've heard, atmospherically spooky - the seance is a terrific scene, and it's a story which needs Time Lords (I like 'time'-based plots) and a very human story under the supernatural surrounds. And excellent performances and sound design as usual.

Yes good story although Darkness of Glass i feel is slightly better. Yes indeed, another one I enjoyed immensely. I do enjoy that one great set up on an island.Iterations of I too lonely isolated spots work for me story wise especially when they cannot get within reach of the TARDIS. i also prefer the older stories for the fact they don’t know where they are going.I said it elsewhere the Doctor having control of the TARDIS just isn’t as exciting. When Capaldi regenerated and shouted Does any one know how to fly this thing? I was hopeful and alas my hopes were dashed

The Darkness Of Glass, Christie's 'And Then There Were None' anything along those lines is right up my street.
