Really enjoying this.
It's a moral mess just like the book.
I had no idea how they would do this.
I had nothing to worry about at all.

I was v wrong.
I need to talk about it.
Right. Come on bf.
Release it!
I've a head full of opinion and no one to share it with.

YOU didn't think it was possible to make this into a coherent drama? Think how I felt!

I recorded some stuff for the extras so my initial panic (and resultant realisation that... actually, wait, this might just work...) is probably covered for posterity. That said, after people have heard it, if they have any questions (beyond 'Why? Oh dear God, WHY?!) I'll be happy to answer them.
One thing: I'd hate people to think they couldn't discuss the release openly because I might be around. Nothing cramps the style of dissecting something more than having the writer hovering over people's shoulders. Nobody likes to say a kid's ugly when the mother's listening! (Which is why I don't tend to comment on something I've written after it's been released, it just seems like I should make myself vanish as it's only polite). So... You know, just have at it. Pretend I'm not here. If I spot any specific questions then I'll weigh in. Plan?

Since you are here I'll take the opportunity to say that The Transcedence of Ephros is my favourite 3DA to date; it perfectly captured the style of 'my' Doctor and Jo. I could easily imagine lots of it being filmed in one of those eternal quarries - during a freak heatwave for once! I liked the solid science fiction ideas and very ‘Doctor Who’ creatures, some morality and the deeper thoughts on human belief and the exploitation of resources, making a great Third Doctor adventure right down to the speedy vehicles and Aikido moments also essential to a true Jon Pertwee story! And I'm really looking forward to The Shape of Things to Come, even more so after the comments from TinDogPodcast.

HAI! (Flips Number 13 over his shoulder, straightens cape.)
So glad you enjoyed it. I had a wonderful time writing it.
And M R James is wonderful, love your choice of name! If you haven't already I heartily recommend the David Collings narrated audiobook of his stories (as well as the Andrew Sachs release from BF of course!). It's the complete collection of James' ghost stories and utterly lovely.

I'll echo Tin Dog's enthusiasm for this. Excellent adaptation, sublime performances and guyadams explains his process in the extras. More in my review

It's the complete collection of James' ghost stories and utterly lovely. David Collings' readings are wonderful but unfortunately I found them rather late. Volume 1 was (and is) still easily available but sadly Volume 2 is now OOP and quite rare. But I think James' earlier stories are his best, on the whole. I can never read or hear 'Canon Alberic's Scrapbook' without wanting to look over my shoulder, just in case...

How annoying that Volume 2 is OOP! The individual stories are available on Audible (at least in the UK) though I appreciate that's a rather annoying way of going about it. The prices are a strange mixture too.

While you're here, I adore More Than This. I'm also really keen to hear how you script edit next year. Alan Barnes is great and all, but someone new is always welcome.

Thank you! And yes, Alan Barnes is a marvel, I'm only doing six stories and I'm in awe of how he manages!

Thank you! And yes, Alan Barnes is a marvel, I'm only doing six stories and I'm in awe of how he manages! No, really. You took a stock character (the blundering councilman) and made him a fully fleshed out and three dimensional person. His monologue near the end, combined with the music, never fails to give me the feels. Please say you're writing more Torchwood. Based on the quality you've turned out so far it'd be an instant pre-order for me! Last time there was a guest script editor that I'm aware of was John Ainsworth with the Seventh Doctor and Klein trilogy back in 2010. If you do half as good a job as script editor it'll be phenomenal. New Zealand is a great country if you're looking for a holiday destination *hint hint*

Roger Pugh was the key for me really. He could so easily have been comedy relief, the job was to ensure he was far more important than that. Glad it worked for you.
(And I'm sure I'll be back and playing for Torchwood soon.)
I have family in New Zealand, actually, but I've never been because YOU'RE ALL SO FAR AWAY. I'd be a crap astronaut wouldn't I? 'Mars? Really? But it'll take AGES.'
