Were they actually having an affair?
I read it as just being the secret texting and he stopped that before it could go further. He was enjoying having a secret of his own - a release valve away from the two people he's closest to who BOTH dominate him. And then he realised he had to rein himself in in case things progressed.
Did I miss something saying they were sleeping together?

Well, no, then. I don't think they were sleeping together yet. Not how I took it. I might be wrong.

Yeah but having affair after just becoming a dad made me dislike John that to me is lowest of the low, i think there's some twist to come with that woman. It's not like any reason was even given for it. It was just random. Completely agree, if it was someone they were working with i could've brought that a little more.

Well i don't think they were going to a flower arranging class together. We don't actually know they even met for a second time, do we? The only thing we were told for definite was that they met and then were flirting by text.
Unless I'm forgetting something.

That was my read of it too. There was no indication they'd had any further meetings after that first one. I think that's the key to the timing of the second meeting. He sent her the back off text seconds while she was sitting at his bus stop waiting for that second meeting, hoping maybe to go for a coffee and take things further. I agree alternative readings are possible, but I'd they annoy or upset you, why not stock with one which doesn't.

They meet on the Bus she gives him her number, They start texting, the 1st proper exchange of texts we see starts "Its been too long I miss you", then they meet again at the Bus stop.
Seems to imply more then a one time thing to me.

It is our flaws which make us human and how we deal with such flaws that go a long way to determining what kind of people we truly are. Besides, perfect people & no conflict makes for really boring drama. Yeah but having affair after just becoming a dad made me dislike John that to me is lowest of the low, i think there's some twist to come with that woman. It is the lowest of the low, the show doesn't attempt to put it in a sympathetic light at all. It adds some flaws to John and that makes sense, we're not all perfect. I hope there isn't some grand twist about her, it'd be nice for once to have a character appear who isn't revealed to be some plot piece.

"Its been too long..." ...since they last texted.
Did we SEE them meet more than once? The conversation at the bus stop was JUST after he got off the bus. She got off too.
I am basing this on one viewing, I may be getting things wrong but I don't think so.

Ha!
No, that's not it at all. I just think what we've seen doesn't say what people are saying it does.

Strictly speaking we've only seen two texts following the bus stop conversation and of course the messages require texts in between to make sense. Anything else is only ever implicit-which is probably intentional.

Well they're definitely wearing 2 different outfits in Bus scenes so that means more then 1 meeting.

If John Watson appears on Jeremy Kyle we'll have the truth. Spoilers. That's why episode two is called 'The Lying Detective'. Jeremy Kyle puts Sherlock on the lie detector test.
