I remember the old days when Big Finish was creative and their stories were diverse without being tied to a story arc.
Eh, modern TV is very much defined by a story arc, in some fashion or another. Given the audience coming in for these box sets, (customers who may not have tried Big Finish before, customers who not neccessairly fans, but enjoyed these Doctors as kids, people who have only seen the revival), it's a good move to emulate. Box set one was all about The Monsters coming back in adventures with the original Doctors, the second box set needs a different pull - and it's not exactly overt.
Also, even with the fast-paced revial, I'd imagine there are many potential who enjoyed, but might want to experience the original Doctors eras before coming back. Providing a further insight into the Time War is a good way to get them to come back.

I think it's possible that the last story might be a Six/Seven multi-Doctor story, and I reckon the Slitheen, Ood, Adipose or Flood are likely candidates. Hopefully not the Slitheen. No farting in Big Finish please. I'd like to hear them make a return (especially opposite the 6th Doctor at his most blustery), if only to hear Nick Briggs go into lengthy serious detail about how he tried to give depth and pathos to the Slithveen and differentiate between the different farters.

In all seriousness, I think there's a decent story to be told with the Slitheen. They're a pretty dark idea on the face of it - they murder and eviscerate their victims and take over their identities by wearing their physical remains as a disguise - and that's only really touched upon, and then very briefly, in "Boom Town". And a story about a family of capitalists could be very timely right now. And of course several of their later SJA stories dispensed with the wind-based element altogether, and Simon Guerrier's "The Slitheen Excursion" didn't even have them disguise themselves as humans and just focused on the money-making aspect of the characters.

So long as we don't get the same portrayal we got in The Aliens of London/World War Three, I think Slitheen could work. Just leave out the flatulent bit and get on with the emerging from human meat suits bit and it could be pretty good.

Maybe they could do a crossover episode with the Reapers and Slitheen. ''Farters Day'' (I'll get my coat...)

I think that with the sound of the Writers and Monsters that this could shape up to be better than volume 1, which had three amazing stories and 1 meh(I'll let you guess which is which )

I actually think an audio with Annette Badland as Margaret, or Blon, would be great. I love everything that she does and she alone has made the Slitheen seem like the vicious and dangerous aliens that they should be. It was her performance that made Boom Town work. She's also someone that has worked for BF on many occasions, so I could really see this as something not unthinkable in the near future. I just don't know which Doctor she should be paired with. I'm thinking 6 or 7. I know that it would have to be something that we haven't seen from her before. But I'm sure the writers at BF could come up with something really good.

I was just thinking, and would a story with the Clockwork Droids work from a canonical standpoint.

If they did it like Boom Town with the Slitheen appearance itself kept to a minimum and most of the story being Blon Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen wearing the human skin of Margaret Blaine it could work quite well.

Just leave out the flatulent bit and get on with the emerging from human meat suits bit and it could be pretty good. Yes, the Slitheen should be silent but deadly. (Did I just say that? Sorry, let me start again...) I think the Slitheen are actually pretty terrifying in their own right, even aside from the awesome visuals, but I also think it makes sense though for them to evolve out of the "flatulent bit" fairly quickly because it's probably rather contrary to the stealth they otherwise have gone to such great lengths to achieve. (It might be plausible that both UNIT and Torchwood are aware of it by now, so the Slitheen may have had considerable incentive to have gotten the gas problem worked out? - and while Kate Stewart sounding an alert for the public to be wary of "farting aliens" in a completely matter-of-fact tone is likely another one of those things I'd be terribly amused to hear in a story, it's also another one of those things that I don't necessarily want or need to hear in a story). :-)
