Should there be a third set? Which new monsters should feature? Which Blake's 7 star should appear alongside Paul McGann? All important questions.

I think it is in the latest Vortex where David Richardson casts doubts if there enough Nu Monsters to warrant a third go.

It was so wonderful to have box sets with four Doctors included that I don't think I'd mind a third set with the same monsters as the first one.

I think there are enough monsters to warrant a third set. I think the reality is that the main range has now caught up so that post-2005 elements can now be incorporated. Previously I think the two Classic Doctors, New Monsters set were done as a quick way to mesh the two eras together when the licence acquisition was announced.

While the main range may have caught up, I do think there should be a third set - it's just a nice gimmick that deserves exploration; it allows us to see how the Classic Doctors respond to un-Classic threats. I might recommend: The 4th Doctor and UNIT vs a 1970's Torchwood branch in a spy-vs-spy story The 6th Doctor and Bonnie break free of a trap set by the Abzorbaloff... The 7th Doctor vs the Silence; the Silence memory-wipe ability makes them perfect for this sort of story, and the ruthless strategy 11 utilized to drive them off Earth in the 1960's certainly reminded me of 7's playbook And I was going to say 8 vs the Weeping Angels, but then, we've already heard that in Doom Coalition, haven't we... Other monsters I might recommend include the Clockwork Droids, the Raxacoricofallapatorians, the Colony Sarff, the Fisher King, the Quantum Shade... Yeah, the Quantum Shade could certainly make for a tragic episode; maybe the 5th Doctor had never heard of them, and yet we the audience know that there's a tragic ending in store for whoever the Doctor's fallen in with in that episode? A doom-and-gloom ending like that would certainly contrast well with 5's general optimism I'm surprised to think they wouldn't do a third series, I think there's loads of further ideas to explore

I'd prefer Sixth Doctor vs the modern Silurians or Colony Sarff instead. I also think with the Reapers would be a great monster to bring back against the Eighth Doctor during the Time War. I think if the Doctor does encounter the 1970s Torchwood, it should be in his own range - they're not really monsters. Agree 100% about the 7th Doctor vs the Silence and the 5th Doctor vs the Quantum Shade, though. The former is just such an obvious idea, it'd be a shame if it never happens. If Big Finish brings David Bradley in for some full-cast stories, I'd love to have the First Doctor encounter the Weeping Angels (and, if not, I still think it would be a marvelous idea for The Early Adventures).

It's done a few years in advance, and often recorded well in advance too, so at the time of the new series acquisition, Big Finish probably already had plans in the pipeline for the main range up until the end of 2017. I think 2018 onwards will start to see more recent elements incorporated into the main range.

I'd love another encounter with the Clockwork Droids, preferably the Seventh Doctor for a bit of body horror. I like the idea of carrying on Deep Breath's sub-plot where the Doctor never quite remembers encountering them, so nothing to stop an encounter pre-Girl in the Fireplace. A trilogy of sorts, if you will.

I LOVE the idea of the Reapers being involved in the Time War The Abzorbaloff idea is sort-of a joke about the rumour that Ian Levine was the inspiration for the monster, and he originally left Doctor Who when Bonnie Langford was brought on board. Along these lines, maybe they should do an episode with 13 where she drives the Abzorbaloff into a rage just by existing...

There will probably be at least one scene in a 13th Doctor episode where they poke fun at whiny fans who hate the idea of a female Doctor.

It made for one of the best scenes in the female Ghostbusters reboot when they addressed the awful YouTube comments they got.

Are we saying that anyone who isn't keen on the idea of a female Doctor is either a 'sexist troll' or a 'whiny fan?' Certainly on this forum, I've found mostly, that both fans and detractors of a female Doctor have been extremely reasonable and courteous in their disagreements.

I hope this box set is the end of the sectioning off of Classic/New. I would much rather have the elements pop up in any range. Like the mention of The Shadow Proclomation in 'How to Win Planets and Influence People'.

Some fans I've seen propose legitimate reasons to not be thrilled at the female Doctor but are giving her a chance, a joke at their expense might just make them give up.

Perhaps then, you could be more specific in your generalisations in future?

Perhaps then, you could be more specific in your generalisations in future? To be fair, he did say 'the more sexist trolls' so he was already making a qualification himself, and as for 'whiny fans'... well there are definitely are some online who are whining as opposed to just expressing fears/worries/concerns.
