I liked Very Green Men but I really liked The Outpost sample.
A sarcastic, bored Robot with the (1st?) Doctor really intrigued me

Cheers. It was supposed to be. 7... on a day off. But it works either way. Glad you liked it.

Life's been crazy since the start of May, but I'm finally getting around to writing my entry.
My nice little Sixie story has been put on the back-burner after I was struck with an idea for a Fourth Doctor story (ably supported by Sarah and Harry) that just seems to have a bit more originality.
It's a tale-by-the-campfire style historical with (what I hope is) a neat little twist at the end. I've never written for the Fourth Doctor before, so this is going to be a pleasure.
Hope everyone else's entries are getting on well...

I've already planned it all but I'm going to start writing my entry tonight, it's a solo First Doctor story called Signpost. At first I'd planned a Seventh Doctor solo, then Fifth and Turlough but I've finally settled on this one!

At first I'd planned a Seventh Doctor solo, then Fifth and Turlough but I've finally settled on this one! It sounds like you've had a very similar experience to mine - I've gone through various ideas involving the Fifth, Second and Sixth Doctors and finally settled on Four just because the idea wouldn't go away.
Best of luck for the writing experience!

I can't make my story Canny Valley work and be uplifting and poinient...
It's also turning into a novel... without any refs to Doctor Who at all.
Maybe I just call it a day

I think the airline question from the other thread gave that away!

I'm just about to tackle my excerpt, although the synopsis is done, and have a sudden desire to defrost the fridge or hoover or indeed do anything other than write!

About a week left to go amigos, so better get to finishing scrubbing those carpets and fridges soon, or else...

Plugging away at the book, I think I've come up with a short story idea that I've fallen in love with. Trouble is, I don't really know what the copyright situation is like with using elements from A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories.

If you're using Milne as a character, there is none. Any of his works though and they're still under copyright for the best part of the next decade - it's 70 years after a creator's work under UK copyright. So expect Disney to milk old Pooh bear dry before 2026 when everyone can make their own versions. Hence why BF - and a host of TV, film and audio producers - announced a host of HG Wells adaptations around the same time - it had been 70 years since he passed so a lucrative and rich resource was suddenly entirely free to adapt.

Hmm... I was thinking Milne and his son Christopher with a shapeshifting penguin thrown into the mix. I think I'll have to be a bit clever with this one.
