How much writing has everyone done before entering this competition? Personally I have written a few short stories, nothing published though. At Uni I've started a creative writing Society that is going well.

Hello again. In answer to your question batmanofni, before the 2016 competition, I had not written since college. The process of submitting four submissions kick-started my writing from nonexistent to some writing done each day. Due to my illness, there are some days when nothing gets done. I last had something published in I think the Reading Evening Post aged 11! Since 2016, I have entered four short story competitions. These have all been unsuccessful. Obviously, I was disappointed particularly with the Doctor Who based ones not hitting the mark. I wanted to tell these stories somewhere, so I have just submitted the prologue for a Sixth Doctor story to www.whofic.com/user.phpThis is A Teaspoon and an Open Mind, a Who fan fiction site. Here, even if no one reads it I can publish my stories. Hopefully, this will help me hone my writing skills until I achieve my goal of mainstream publication. Best wishes, batmanofni and all Divergent wordsmiths , with all your writing endeavours.

Divergant Wordsmiths is a brilliant name, we must be able to do somethng with that.

Hello again.
Thank you for your encouraging words, Bazoolium, it is great name. Your new Divergent identity did confuse me somewhat as I didn't know you could change your name on this forum.
Anyway, so far, one rejection. As its Sunday, I was able to swiftly edit my story prologue and resubmit it. I will get this 500 word prologue published online if it kills me! Hopefully, once I eventually manage to get this little acorn published, I will endeavour to post at least one chapter a week until the story is finished. Here's hoping...
P.S I've done it. Teaspoon accepted my prologue, now I have to keep going and finish the story. If you submit a story to Teaspoon, read and check your story for spelling and grammar. They will reject a submission with poor spelling or grammar amongst other things. Do check their submission guidelines, as you will save yourself some hassle.
This story archive is huge. Having your story archived on this site means your story is a bit like a tiny grain of sand on an enormous beach. That said, at least your story is out there. If one reader enjoys it; then this is better than gathering virtual dust in your hard drive.

Hello again.
Sorry to hear that TinDog. I am currently uploading short 500-1000 word chapters as I haven't the concentration to edit anything longer than that.
I certainly couldn't create and broadcast a regular podcast. That must take a lot of work. I am really enjoying writing and uploading a weekly chapter. I'm not going to be selected for Big Finish, I'm too amateur, but it gives me an audience to write for.
Whatever our creative outlet, it does seem funny that an eccentric British show from the Sixties has produced such a wealth of artwork, audio plays, music and any other type of media you can think of.

Yeah. My dyslexia has always resulted in the rejecting of my work from teaspoon It is odd that dyslexic people are often also very creative and interested in artsy stuff. I remember most of my A Level English Literature class stammered reading stuff out. I find that my Dyslexia auto corrects my mistakes when I read them, so I don't notice them even on a 4th read through. Also, I am expecting them to announce the comp winner any day now. Suprised it hasn't been on BF website yet.

I thought someone said it was earlier.... Nevermind.

FanFiction.net has communities (i.e. collections) set up around specific characters, authors and/or subject matter, I reckon if a bunch of us fan writers got together and published work in unison, Divergent Wordsmiths would make an awesome soubriquet to dub the compendium. Whether it's on Teaspoon or somewhere else.

True, but I think we knew there was a winner not long after they picked it.

They wouldn't have to be particularly long stories..... I would be totally up for this.

They could even be just a series of short stories centred around different Doctors and companions. I'm going to set up another thread here in the Doctor Who subsection, sound off anyone who might be particularly interested in contributing.

It just needed checking... I mean I had... 5 times. But they still said it wasn't good enough. You can hear me read the story on youtube if you want to judge for yourself
