I really had fun with this one! The creative departure was a bit of a risk but I loved how it paid off. It was brisk, never lagged, it was deadpan, it was laugh-out-loud funny, and oh boy, Janet Fielding was on fine form! Tegan is consistently one of my least favourite Who characters, but I absolutely adored how much glee she was taking in being Ambassador Jovanka

This was certainly a delightful episode and like pretty much everyone else, I would certainly be up for more tales of da prez.

I haven’t read most of the posts in this thread for fear of spoilers. Just a quick question - Is this a stand alone or is any background required ? Am tempted to listen to this next and am way behind in the MR.

Well, if you know how the Invasion of Time and The Five Doctors ended on TV, that's about it for prequels.

Am tempted to listen to this next and am way behind in the MR. Nothing beyond several instances of name dropping, which come from Invasion of Time and The Five Doctors as well as establishing where in the Doctor's timeline it's set (there's a great line in The Two Masters where the Master cuts off the timeline catchup chit chat and says it must be fascinating to someone but now's not the time). All the background is given in the first episode. The only returning characters are the Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Leela.

I suppose it comes down to personal preference, but I only recently started paying any attention to when exactly in the timeline a given story is supposed to happen. Obviously, the companions are an obvious tipoff to the general range, and in certain parts of the MR they pick up with certain characters after their departure - but that's obvious because they say so. Never really got in the way of enjoying a story for me, but that's also just personal preference.

For me timeline placement is a fun thing to work out, but unless it's crucial to the story I'm not that fussed.

I had an unexpected free evening so I laid back and listened to this delightful story. I like that it's an anthology with a linking story to it. That choice allowed us to see several different situations play out and all of them were hugely entertaining. The cast was great, as well. Tegan and Leela played well together, too. I would certainly not mind if they met again.

I loved Tegan being used to drop little bits of fan service and plug fun plot holes like why the physiology of the First Doctor was different to his later incarnations. Very fun. This story is so perfect for Davison. No Who actor does exasperation and mild-irritaton better. Him having to tolerate the red tape was hilarious. Loved his inaugural speech and his attempts to pull another Five Doctors and piss off with the TARDIS under the pretence of being right back. There was a time during the older-Nyssa arc where I was really falling out of love with Fifth Doctor stories but from the Adric box and trilogy to the Amsterdam-Aquitaine-Peterloo trilogy.....it's been a spectacular few years for Davison and co. The dark days of Moonflesh and the like are long since passed.

I loved this, a lot of fun to listen to. Especially enjoyed the interactions between the Sixth Doctor, Tegan, and Leela.

I don't consider Time in Office to sit among the best that BF has to offer, but the story did have some very fine moments.

I'm a bit late to this party but I would say this is one of the best 5th Doctor releases in some time. Isn't it time Eddie Robinson wrote for the MR again?

It would be nice if BF would do a flash sale on a couple of titles such as this one to celebrate the US Elections.

A follow up series of releases to this would be good fun. Probably one of the better Davison releases in the MR and a great little anthology of stories.
