Only had a chance to listen to the first ten minutes of Cobwebs - but it's fantastic and I've been waiting for BF to get back to Cyrus. You'll have to wait a bit longer, that's Sebastian.

I've just met the first of Christopher Pennock's characters on the TV show. Jeb really didn't want to be likable despite needing to be around people.

I've just finished the episode where Barnabas tells Julia about how he was initiated into the Leviathans, the clip show episode (938). My goal is to reach and overtake Danny on his Dark Shadows Everyday blog. Which one are you on?

My goal is to reach and overtake Danny on his Dark Shadows Everyday blog. Which one are you on? My last episode was 936... apparently in two episodes I get a clips show. I would have seen more but my Fire Tablet has decided it'll only play episodes when I'm connected to wifi and not when on the move (I often watch on the train) and I can't see what I've done to cause this.

Hey, I just noticed the main theme music isn't played in these stories. I like the music chosen, but had assumed the theme song would be played with the first or last story. (Well, apparently I didn't miss it too much because I didn't notice it until after I'd listened to three of the stories multiple times.)

Oh I always want to stay behind him.
After I've seen more episodes, I read the wiki entry and Danny's blog.

I still can't get over "Old Acquaintance" and the creepy Mari Lwyd tradition. I had read of a similar creepy New Year's wassailing from house to house in the nineteenth century but didn't know the history of it before now. One thing though: Seems the audio might have been sped up during the first song so that Selby's narration would fit within that first song. Or sped up for whatever reason. It felt slightly fast. It's too much wish for, but I wish the intro song had been known beforehand (and lengthened if necessary) and perhaps Selby had been listening to it in headphones to sync his rhythm.

Devil's Rock is a very enjoyable, atmospheric, seaside horror. But not the sort of seaside with sticks of rock and candy floss - happily, this involves Lovecraftian sacrifice and a very enjoyable exploration of the relationship between Barnabas and Willie ... and Doctor Hoffman. Crisply read by Andrew Collins, who continues to get ever more impressive as Collinsport's melancholy vampire.
A quieter entry than the maniacal story before it, Devil's Rock nevertheless continues the strong and infectious vein of horror of Dark Shadows in this wonderful range.

The stories sorted in reverse order on my device without my realizing, so I listened to "Cobwebs," "Devil's Rock," and "Old Acquaintance." Haven't heard "Reflected Man" yet. I rather liked the reverse order but hope "Reflected Man" doesn't turn out to be the weakest of them. I won't get around to hearing the last one until the weekend at the earliest.

"Old Acquaintance" PLEASE EXPLAIN. I don't think I've ever heard such pronounciations of "wizened" and "sooted" (twice). But understandable when one has to read/enact so much by one's self. Questions below (click spoiler) {Spoiler}
SPOILERS: Question: This is set in 1971 but Cassandra appears as Cassandra. Is there an episode or story I'm forgetting where Quentin would know Angelique's alter ego Cassandra? No biggy.
Question: At first I thought Cassandra's blood was destroying him but it was the hail?

Without my having relistened to the story... which way of saying "wizened" was it? Wizznd or wisend? I've heard both often enough. I assume the other word is "suited" said 'sooted'?

"Old Acquaintance" It's interesting to think of Angelique slipping into her black wig anytime she wants to slink about town unobserved

The UK, where part of the story is set. Suit sounds like soot sounds like soot to me. I can't really hear much variation.

Cobwebs. From the delivery of the very first line, it was clear to me this story was going to be a lot of fun. It reminds me a little of The Wicked and the Dead from way back, which is no bad thing. Aaron Lamont has constructed a terrific and frightening story which, partly due to Christopher Pennock's performance, threatens to become overpowering. It's true - listen to this at night, with headphones; the performance could send you over the edge into the abyss (well that's what it feels like)! I say all this as a huge positive, by the way. Like Old Acquaintances before it, this marrying of writing suited to the performance, and performance suited to the writing produces something very powerful. And the twist at the end (if it is a twist - I haven't reached Shaw;s TV episodes yet) is wonderful, if not 100% surprising in retrospect. Tremendous.
