I just thought old cynic that I am, if BF are showing their hand with this, it would obviously mean to me that potentially they may have or have had discussion about 10th Doctor, and other Nu who era stuff. It seems perhaps that the licence that is issued is suiting the propagation of the brand nicely. Interesting Times as Pratchett and the Chinese would say.

As well as being a clever ploy to take more of my money (War Doctor/Eighth Time War this month, Ten and Donna next month?), it also ensures that they get more business from the NuWho fans and cements their future if they do decide to reduce the Classic era (thus alienating some older fans). The more cynical side of me wonders whether this is in fact the case, and that could also explain the closure of the forum ... or perhaps I am just paranoid!
Either way, they are definitely branching out more (a good thing imho) and I would imagine that today's news is more popular (and financially important) than The Prisoner.
Cheers
Tony

So for once this actually was a big announcement (which did not get spoiled first by Blogtor Who)
I am not going to lie I have mixed feelings about the War Doctor but I will at least get the first set (and the 8th Doctor set) to let Big Finish change my mind. I am definitely curious to see what they are going to do with the War Doctor & Time War.
Although somehow I am most excited for more Paul McGann lol
And yeah definitely very sad we can't talk about this with everyone on the BF forums.
Edit: Just saw the Paul McGann set is not coming for 2 years (Nov 2017) yeah I will have to wait to preorder that.

I danced on the ceiling reading this news The War Doctor with John Hurt returning in the part, if that news wasn't good enough we also have The Time War box sets with the Eighth Doctor, not happy having to wait until November 2017 though.
For God's sake Big Finish reopen the forums so we can discuss this, we on the forums have been very loyal customer's keeping BF in production for 16 year's so treat us like adults not children & don't let a few trolls spoil it for the rest of us.

Exciting news. I'll have to decide if I want to pre-order. I have so much BF to listen to and money is going to be tight over the next few months. Can I justify laying out £100 at this moment? Maybe I'll wait for it to go on sale or when I have better bank balance.

I'm just picking them up individually since there's no saving in the bundle (well, untill they go up in price post-release). £20 now for a pre-Christmas War Doctor treat sounds perfect.

That's my plan too Martin. After Gallifrey, Blake's 7 and Charley being pushed way back, I'm going to try and concentrate more on what's imminent than commit too much money I won't see anything back on for 2 years.

I'm going to pick them up individually as well. So much coming.
To be honest I was conflicted when I first heard the news this morning. I'm one of the grumpy elves that hates the concept of the War Doctor, so every new story with him just rubs me the wrong way. But on the other hand it's John Hurt and Big Finish and Time War. The longer I thought about this today, the more excited I am. So, I'm giving this a shot. I don't know if I'll ever truly love the War Doctor, but if anyone can get me to soften on him it's BF.
And the Paul McGann release made me squeal with joy.

I really did not see that coming.
Had trouble getting any work done on Monday, in fact...
I'd always expressed reservations about doing the Time War. It was a bit tricky to keep all the timeline shifts across the Dark Eyes series, so, I worried that something like the Time War could become a huge mess. But....I trust BF, so, can't wait.
John.
