Hm... I'd probably say a mix of Donna and Amy and a bit of Rory and Jo in there too.

A little Hex, and maybe a little Mickey.
I'm not a nurse, but a physical therapist. To be able to travel the universe (or the world) and help where I can would be a wondrous thing.
As for Mickey, I think I always feel a little out of my depth, even if I'm not.

They never specifically name him so in my head-canon it wasn't him. When the Doctor refers to the 'the idiot's gas' he could just means that it was an idiotic thing to make in the first place, so it's not necessarily a reference to Harry (plus in Revenge of the Cybermen he calls Harry an imbecile, not an idiot). No, unfortunately they do later say 'Sullivan's gas'. I was appalled; he was an officer, an English gentleman and a concientious medical doctor who went out of his way to *save* lives, human or alien. Sullivan's not an uncommon name, and it could just be a code name.

Perhaps, but given the medical link, the UNIT connection and the Doctor saying 'the idiot's gas' (and the Fourth Doctor's sarcastic banter with Harry), I think the intention was clear and this is par for the course. The best explanation / excuse I can come up with is that there was no such gas and the Doctor not only 'stole' it but created the idea in the first place, all part of his bluff to keep the peace. But no, I think they intended it to be true, very little of the classic series is treated with respect. Or they would not have (disgustingly) dug up the Brigadier and stuck him in in a cyber-suit the year before. I thought, if they'll do that, nothing is sacred, especially given that it was only a very few years since the great and ever popular Mr. Courtney himself died.

Oh, that really got up my nose, it still does. Of all the tributes done to commemorate the old, bold soldier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart... Babelcolour's My Immortal Brigadier is up there as some of the best and that truly ugly propping up of his corpse in Death in Heaven is truly one of the very worst. Putting him into an unenviable living hell just to have a Cyberman salute the Doctor from afar was just offensive. It's one of the lowest points in the series and best left forgotten. I mean it. Alistair deserved so much better than that. The Moffat era just doesn't get any of these old characters, it really doesn't. It bridged the classic series with its revival and then decided to just carelessly trample all over it. Just vile.

I know it's the intention, but because it's a vague reference it ain't sticking in my head canon. I don't think it's a lack of respect, the reference was presumably intended as a nod and was just misguided. Cyber-Brig was however completely unnecessary and tasteless. It added nothing to the story and presumably just existed to address fans wondering about converted past companions, which didn't need answering really.

Ah, apotheosis. I am really struggling to think of a good example for myself... A bit of Zoe, Peri, Benny and Leela, maybe?
