I liked it. the flashback was great, giving the face just the right amount of significance

I thought this was the best this year (so far.) We all (the family) loved it, something for everyone and even a brief glimpse of David Tennant sent the fanboy in me all a flutter.

Masie Williams is top notch and once again Capaldi flips that switch from arrogant coldness to ardent compassion.

I enjoyed it, another good episode, a bit of a romp this time. So far the season is going well, currently that makes me feel that it is doing better than last season, but looking back at last season, the first 5 I enjoyed, it started going downhill in episode 6, with Kill the Moon being the nadir and it having difficulty climbing back from that, so could still be room for this season to go downhill, but fingers crossed it doesn't

I adore this current series. Capaldi should be encouraged to remain for as long as possible for I feel that he has become THE Doctor. This is supremely confident storytelling that is firing on all thrusters. If there is one weakness with this episode, and this series in general, at least for me, is that it seems like Clara isn't really doing much. I think as a character, she served her purpose and maybe she should have left at the end of the last series. Moffat keeps introducing characters that I'd rather see as companions to The Doctor instead of the one he has. Jenna Coleman is great but the writing seems as if they don't know what they want to do with her. Anyway, putting that to the side, this series is a cracking good set of stories.

Masie Williams was great in this, and I am really loving Capaldi. I also loved the Tennant/Donna flashback and I think it actually worked. Another great outing by Jamie Mathieson (yes, with SM). (Although my 14 year old had to point out that electric eels don't actually produce electricity. I told him to shut up and watch the show. )

Loved it, Peter Capaldi is simply awesome this season & giving one excellent performance after another, loving his take on the Doctor.
Masie Williams was good & the ending hints at her characters descent into darkness but i do think her character was a little too overhyped.
Overall a solid entertaining episode 8/10.

(Although my 14 year old had to point out that electric eels don't actually produce electricity. I told him to shut up and watch the show. ) They do, about 600volts, but only at 1amp, and only for a couple of milliseconds. They are, however, only found in South America, so it's somewhat unlikely the Vikings would have been catching them! Also, Vikings did not have horns on their helmets! Nice fun episode though, with an interesting concept of an immortal Masie Williams!

There is a theory that Quetzalcoatl was a Viking. Obviously he brought some electric eels home with him (or they, y'know, have become extinct in Europe in the last thousand years).
(*cough* "space helmets for a cow")

Nice fun episode though, with an interesting concept of an immortal Masie Williams! Yes, he must have mentioned the horns on the helmets about 5 times as well. I read something last night about how the Vikings might have had the electric eels, even thought they're from South America. It was a stretch, but plausible. Yes, Viking explorers brought them home with them. They were in barrels in the boat house to keep them warm because the lake was too cold.

I really enjoyed this episode. The flashback to why he has the face, worked perfectly. All made sense in that regard and interesting that they are hinting that Ashildir is the Hybrid that Davros mentioned. And the fact that she went from season one arya to season 5 arya in the space of a 30 second camera pan lol

I enjoyed the flashback, and was quite amused how quickly he went back to being Timelord Victorious. I'm not sure that's why he used that face lol.
Cheers

An emotional roller coaster of an episode. The scenes where the Doctor is translating the baby are rich with pathos. This is the best episode I've seen so far during Capaldi's tenure.

While I loved the grimm reality of it and that baby speech, I do think the resolution to the main plot did come out of nowhere. I love the sentiment of it, but it just....happened and given the grimminess of this episode, I found it rather hard to let go - and I can't believe The Doctor would condemn a little girl to immortality. I think it would have worked better if he accidently screwed up.
I haven't seen Game of Thrones (I want to read the books first), but Masie Williams was fantastic here. What an actress, particularly in the end.

I wonder what the Doctor tried to subconsciously remind himself of when he took on Maxil's face, then?
