After the discussion about Class audios, I was wondering if there would be a market for Sarah Jane Adventures audios and how you would like to see them done?
I personally would love to see these done, I loved the series and is actually what made me start watching Doctor Who, maybe as early adventures type stories with narration or like solo adventures in the style of the Torchwood monthly range.

I'd be more interested in these than Class audios. I loved all the kids on the show.

Didn't Nick recently say that there are no plans at all to do anything based on SJA?

Didn't Nick recently say that there are no plans at all to do anything based on SJA? Yes, in Vortex. Is anyone really surprised? BF's fanbase isn't exactly full of younger listeners. It would be a risky range - especially with Lis having passed it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that could have enough appeal to really get off the ground. I don't see it crossing over to enough Who audio fans. Some of those "kids" may not be so keen to play young teens anymore either - Daniel who played Clyde is 30 this year for example. They all seem to be working pretty prolifically if you follow the scene too. The main cast have mostly played adults on high profile TV now - Daniel was a regular in Casualty, Tommy Knight is a regular in Victoria, Yasmin was in all of Pramface, Anji was in RTD's Cucumber and the all-star Paranoid. I would actually be very surprised if they were all too interested in playing 13 year olds again. It feels like one of those suggestions that would be hard to put together and probably of extremely limited appeal after a lot of effort. Obviously some people would buy it - maybe quite a lot...but enough to make it viable? I'd guess that the complete antipathy from BF every time it's suggested tells us what they think.

All due respect to the young actors but the charm of SJA was the draw and skill of Elisabeth Sladen's performance, without that it would've just a half decent kids show.

The only SJ adventure I want to hear is a follow up / resolution to Dreamland - it could be done in the style of a CC.
Cheers

I'd like to see Sarah Jane Adventures Companion Chronicles. It would be a great way to carry on Sarah Jane's legacy. After all, 'The story goes on...forever'.

A Sarah Jane audio drama in any format without Lis Sladen doesn't bare thinking about, i don't think it would work, Lis created such a iconic character her passing has left a gapping hole in the DW Universe which can never be filled.

A gapping hole? It's like the deadly assassin cursed with fatal death!

I don't see why it couldn't if done in the Companion Chronicles style. I think it would be a great way to honour her legacy. Maybe Big Finish could do a one-off box set on the anniversary of Elisabeth Sladen's sad passing?

Asides from the fact that Nick has said that BF has no plans to do anything with the SJA characters, there's absolutely no reason why it couldn't be done.

It would be lovely to hear Companion Chronicle style stories (or maybe a Fourth Doctor Short Trip?) with performers from the SJ Adventures. They could be their adult ages, recounting past adventures with Sarah Jane or retroactively bringing us closure to Dreamland. I don't think I should get my hopes up, though - it usually sounds like getting series rights can be sort of a big deal and I could understand if the returns might not justify licensing for such a project. It would also be very lovely to hear the Eighth Doctor reunited with Grace but it sounds like rights issue there might be insurmountable?

I wouldn't be surprised if 8 and Grace audios happen eventually. I can't imagine Universal will want to hold onto the rights forever.

I don't mean it like that, I mean as in it would make for a nice tribute to her. Big Finish don't strike me as a greedy company motivated by money. They are more generous than most companies in my view.

I know you didn't mean it like that my friend, actually upon reflection you maybe right with a Companion Chronicles style format it could work.

I realise you didn't mean it that way, but that is actually what they would be doing, and you're right, they're not that sort of company so I'm sure they won't. Now, on the anniversary of Sarah first encountering the Doctor, that could work.

Appearances of these characters (Luke, Rani, Clyde, Sky and Maria, mainly) in other ranges, such as Torchwood or Doctor Chronicles, could also be a good way to continue their stories.

As has been mentioned elsewhere not so much SJA audios but a resolution to the Dreamland audio, whether in Short Trip or CC style format so that it allows for a link to the SJA series.
