Up to Pyramids (Pratchett); almost onto the final volume of the 3-part T.Roosevelt biography.
Working through some more of "The Gonzo Papers, Vol. 1" (Hunter S. Thompson; early 1960s articles, the McGovern campaign, the Carter campaign) to get a non-traditional view of the politics of the time.
Anyway...back to pratchett. I had watched "King Lear" with Ian McKellan and Lear and Sylvester McCoy as The Fool a few months ago. I couldn't help but to read "The Fool" in Sourcery (Pratchett) in McCoy's voice....

Loved Pyramids. And the best mathematician on Discworld is a camel named You Bastard.

I need to re-read Pratchett's Pyramids, now that I know some of the references and in-jokes I wasn't aware of for the first read.
But right now, I'm reading Knut Hamsun's Hunger, which is a surprisingly intense novel for something published in 1899, and I'm also reading Anna Swanwick's translation of Agamemnon by Aeschylus.

The Beauty of Murder by AK Benedict. I'm about halfway through the novel about a serial killer who travels through time and the Cambridge professor who gets caught up in his web and am quite enjoying it.

Onto Escape Velocity by Colin Brake. (For the most part i've been doing books that introduce Companions, except Compassion as she is owned by Lawrence Mills and i doubt that he'd allow a version of her to be used in adapts)

Finished the Daemon Parallel by Roy Gill.....a very enjoyable read with fun characters and some nice twists and turns.
I've already purchased the sequel Werewolf Parallel
I haven't been really that motivated to read this year so the fact that I finished this shows how much I enjoyed it.

Ok, I just finished the Theodore Roosevelt trilogy by Edmund Morris ("Theodore Rising"; "Theodore Rex"; "Colonel Roosevelt"). I recommend it to anyone who enjoys biographies, even if they couldn't be paid to care about that period of history. It was one of the best-written biographies I've ever read. You will truly feel like you've known the man intimately by the end. He was very much the Greek hero; great, with fatal flaw.
About to start "The Unabridged Mark Twain".
And perhaps, simultaneously, another run through something I've reread every several years since childhood: The Silmarillion, then LOTR, then a sampling of the "Unfinished Tales", etc.
Once done, back to Pratchett.

Picked up a Dark Shadows novel, Dreams of the Dark, at a second-hand bookshop today so I'm reading that at the moment.

Still on Dreams of the Dark. Caught a wonderful little reference, Victoria goes to the Pennock Supper Club. No doubt an in-joke on the name of cast member Christopher Pennock.

Not really no (I do enjoy watching the occasional episode of Marple etc though), Banquo Legacy was a well written book, but I found it kinda slow and generic with the Doctor absent for what seemed like the majority of the book. I loved the Ancestor Cell though (which dosen't seem to have a great reputation amongst fans) so it may just be me...

One of my favourite stories is Transit and while it tends to get a lot of praise, there are some circles who go: "Ah... Yes... That book." I've just cracked open a copy of Dave Stone's Burning Heart for a reread.

Heck, I quite enjoyed the Time Monster, and was surprised to learn that it was so reviled. Speaking of Transit, is the book itself as wonderful as its DWM prelude?

Craig Hinton wrote a Sixth Doctor novel that's a sequel to Time Monster, The Quantum Archangel. Despite all the continuity references it somehow works and it a really fun book.
