It is a big shame that they waiting as long as they did to get Charley back. We could have had a few box sets with her by now. In a way I am pleased that they chose to move her away for all those high profile releases at the beginning of the year, but unless they can make her releases distinctive I do worry that her own range will disappear after only these two sets. On a happier note I see in DWM that India Fisher is performing the audio book of the Sixth Doctors novel - The Shadow in the Glass. I do not know if the book is any good, but I am tempted by the prospect of listening to India for 8 hours! Is this a BF release? It is a BBC audio release.

I have finished Shadow in the Glass and it was wonderful listening to India Fisher for eight hours!
I even found myself watching Masterchief this evening simply to hear her voice.
Although it is lovely to have Sheridan Smith back in the recording studio I confess that I am disappointed that I am not going to hear Charley again until Big Finish finally release this second box set.

News in the latest podcast: Scripts are still being done on series two, and other cast members will likely be James Joyce and Michael Maloney, indicating Robert and the Viyrans are back. What's the betting that another writer will handle series three if that ever materialises? Between this and Graceless, perhaps wait until the scripts are all done before committing to a release date instead of pushing it back.

I had hoped that after putting series two back so many times that it might have been already recorded and then Big Finish could make a big thing about it moving forward! And on the podcast Nick said they might have to recast! So I wonder who they will get to play Charley Pollard??

I haven't heard the podcast. Were they really talking about recasting Charley? I just can't even imagine it. I'd rather they cancel the set than replace India Fisher.
I can't recall if Big Finish have ever cancelled anything they have already taken pre-orders on. This set has been up for pre-order for so long, I wonder how many they've already sold.

Nick was joking about the recasting comment, in the context that once the scripts were done they'd need three main actors be available for the same recording days.

Well I haven't preorderd this because there has barely been any information. Until this thread popped up I honestly forgot it existed.

Nick was joking about recasting, he said it's difficult fitting recording in with busy actors' careers. Nothing is being cancelled. I believe the only time that may have happened was when they lost the licence for "The Tomorrow People" before the last season was released. But that was before my time so I may be wrong. It's more likely that the Charlotte Pollard Series will be like Graceless, appearing every few years or so. There's only so much they can do with writers/actors/recording sessions and they now have a huge output (with more to come). I expect some of the "lesser" ranges will fizzle out or become occasional releases over time. Cheers Tony EDIT: omega beat me to it

I'm relieved! I haven't had time to hear the podcast yet so I was concerned.

So in less than 24 hours I beat mark687 to a release announcement and acousticwolf to clarifying a point. Just the former is an admirable achievement.

But you've regenerated on a moment too soon and why do the block company think Sixy's hair's brown? I get blond might not show on yellow but surly white would be closer?

Idea...
To tide us over...
We should edit all the audio from master chef into a new box set!
Oh and India is also the natwest telephone banking automatic voice. Or is it marks and Spencer.
Either way. It could work

Much as I like India I now ask the possibly heretical question of:do we actually need more Charley Pollard? Isn't there a time when the story is done?

Much as I like India I now ask the possibly heretical question of:do we actually need more Charley Pollard? Isn't there a time when the story is done? That's my concern. Boxset 1 felt like it had a nice wrapping up of all the ongoing threads. Yes it ended with the possibility of new adventures, which I think would have been great if they churned out a set every year like with Vienna. However this one has taken so long and with the advent of New Series material it feels like it might end up being an awkward coda at the end of a ling fulfilling story, rather than the first step in an exciting new one.

At this point there's a chance even those who pre-ordered volume 2 eons ago (the first one came out just over two years ago and the scripts for volume 2 aren't even written yet!) will lose interest in further volumes. Even the first box set was five years in development after India Fisher was promised a Charley spin-off after Blue Forgotten Planet (there's an anecdote from Nick about having a number of lunches with India just to assure her the spin-off was going to be made). Either give another writer(s) the task and/or end the range with volume 2.
