An updated re-release of Meglos, where all the imperfections have been ironed out and replaced by some sumptuous and expensive looking CGI, reminding people what an under-valued gem this classic story really is. Well, I can dream, can't I?

Apparently the classic series releases surprisingly sell better than the new series ones, so I wonder if we can expect more animated episodes?

That would be the most interesting watch IMO. Depends what you mean. There's at least one new series Myth Maker so far. But if you mean an actual 'David Tennant Years' High Street release to match the Classic Who Doctors then for the foreseeable there can't be a collection of interviews with the regulars when none of the regulars have been interviewed yet.

Attachment DeletedIts 6 interview lineup will include: Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred, [new] Angela Bruce (Brigadier Bambera), Jessica Martin (Mags), [new] Lisa Bowerman and Andrew Cartmel (script editor). I was hoping that Andrew Cartmel would make the cut, and I can now eventually retire my Myth Makers: Sophie Aldred VHS tape!

To be fair that's what the title has been on the US one since it was announced months ago so it's nothing new. It's still clunky as hell though. So if the range takes off the US will get "Sylvester McCoy Season 3" instead of the Season 26 we'll get here presumably. It'll certainly look odd on the shelf with so many Season 1s.

Pertwee's Fifth series, Tom Bakers Third, Davison's Second series, etc. The series as a whole, yes, i think of series 11, 14 & 20, but that means nothing to a casual viewer who I know from experience thinks of the series by the Actor playing the Doctor ("let's watch an early Tom Baker, please - I don't care for the later ones"), who may have three series - first, middle and last. It's just easier to compartmentalise. If you are a collector, the full numeration suits, but i guess most buyers will purchase a smaller collection of 'their' Doctor.

I understand the rationale but it's clearly not one shared by the UK wing where it will be Season 12. Ditto the French release. I've never heard anyone call Season 11 "Pertwee Season 5" for one but I guess times change and someone in the US part of BBCWW thinks it's a good idea for the moment. It won't affect me at all it's just an odd way of selling the show - with 13 Season 1s.

I do agree with you as a fan, but from experience in terms of encouraging casual viewers, some context always sells the viewing choice ("It's Tom Baker's first - I could collect 'them' as a range") I suspect that this is aimed at picking up a more casual purchaser who thinks of the series positively in terms of a particular Doctor, such as Tom Baker or David Tennant. It does strike me though that there is a pattern recently of treating Stateside fan's second class, like the unavailability of the Shada steel-book over the pond for region 1 DVD's, reversal of when they had first dibs on the Key to Time DVD set.

Looks like the US/Canada aren't getting the LE packaging for Season 12, Amazon now show this as the artwork: Still...glass half full (instead of empty) for us region A/1 purchasers. - At least we're even getting it...and only 8 days after the UK release!
- Its current Amazon US/Canada pre-order price is about £5 less (some marginal solace) than the UK "limited edition packaging" version.
And, I won't have to OCD fixate over looking after a damage prone (often a fingerprint magnet, sometimes arriving with banged corners, its foil artwork flaking off at the edges over time, .etc.) cardboard sleeve/outer casing. Its trusty standard plastic casing will be excellent enough! I am also at peace with this region A/1 product being branded Tom Baker: Complete Season One. I would prefer a classic "Doctor Who" logo on it though... I'm not going to let negligible niggles bother me. I truly consider this deluxe re-release as an unexpected bonus.
