I'm not sure she's making as revelatory a statement as one worth creating a topic over. All the companies I've worked for over the last decade have strict social media policies and you can't just take it on yourself to engage with the public, not sure why comics would be different. If anything being owned by conglomerates makes it more likely to be hamstrung on speaking out as an individual rather than with the company voice. And, sure, they have to put stuff in their stories they don't personally care for. Again...we all eat crow in our professional lives.
It won't stem the tide of entitled social media fantrolls who will go overboard, but nothing will. The guys and gals who have their names on the cover of the comics are always going to be the ones given the criticism for the content - and the praise - but there's nothing new there. If you put out an opinion on Twitter or Facebook even at a fan level like us you really do have to be thick-skinned. We're in somewhat of a bubble on this forum where the discourse is largely civil but by God, just look at any Batman V Superman news story comments on FB to see sheer hatred, threats and bile from all quarters....over a silly popcorn movie. That's the age we're in. You didn't get that when it was selected letters to the editor that were the sole voice of feedback in comics.
