The closest the news story gets to stories she's appeared in is the David Richardson anecdote mentioning her book was brought up at one of the Fourth Doctor recordings. You'd think there would be a few links to stories she has been in, so listeners who haven't heard them can hear her previous performances.

Bit of a left field choice, not sure too many of its core customers will find much interest in this title.
I applaud trying to diversify, but this is not for me as an audiobook.....I might have taken a punt on a drama but an audiobook is too much investment in time.

The blurb for this didn't do anything to grab my interest, my wallet will appreciate the break.

Yes, but a product written and read by someone, who be perfectly honest hasn't developed much name recognition, would at least have some examples from her body of Big Finish work cited in the article announcing the story. I'd have at least put links to Sands of Life and War Against the Laan, as well as her Survivors and Avengers appearances to appeal to fans of those ranges. Maybe even mention she's in the upcoming Philip Hinchcliffe Presents entry Helm of Awe. I'm not saying people are goldfish incapable of searching the website, but a few recommendations never hurt anybody.

I got this in the recent sale and will be listening to it on my lunchtime walk on dry days. Listened to the first 40 minutes so far and it was reasonably enjoyable. Not the sort of sci-fi I normally get from BF, but they do say a change is as good as a rest. My biggest worry is that it's going to be a bit of chick-lit but, as I say, I'm enjoying it OK so far.
All the posts on this thread seem to date from when the audiobook was announced. There are no review posts, has anyone else listened to it? I'd be interested to know what others thought.

I'm currently is listening to it right now, in short bursts and I'm really enjoying it. The nice thing is that it takes chic lit and spends it into something much more mature and enjoyable.

Picked this up on release (swayed by David Richardson's enthusiasm for the book on Twitter) with the intention of dipping in and out...and finished it in three days. Helped enormously that as the writer of the novel Jane throws her heart and soul into the narration..and that I found myself relating to the main character's predicament..😳

Funnily enough, I too somewhat related to the main character in SOME ways. But yeah I heard this book well over a year ago now, I only just saw the thread. I really enjoyed it. I seem to recall trying to figure out when it was written, or if there were parts that were updated for the audiobook recording because I could've sworn I heard an anachronism in there.
Anyway: Yes I really enjoyed the story. A beautiful, funny, and at times very real love story. It's melodramatic, but it still feels like this could've happened, and maybe it even did. Jane Slavin did an excellent job writing believable characters, flaws and all, and telling a story about an actresses life and love life. So certainly not the type of thing I'd have paid attention too (and indeed, when it was announced I literally had no clue who Jane Slavin was, not having listened to the 4DA's at that point. It was only after her announcement as the new companion, oh so long ago, that I decided to check it out)...but I'm glad I did. I do recommend it. You can zip through it easily.

Well, I am almost exactly a third of the way through and have decided to give up. I hate leaving anything unfinished and very rarely do it, but I am finding this a real chore to listen to and the prospect of another 40 minutes of it on my lunchtime walk fills me with no enthusiasm whatsoever. Now that I have taken the decision to jump ship it feels like a large burden has been lifted off me. It's not that it's bad. In fact it's good in a lot of ways. Well written, exceptionally well read by the author, I can't really fault it in any way, but I'm afraid it's simply just not really my cup of tea. Based on what I have listened to so far, there's very little in the way of plot [and I "get" that that is the point] and it is mostly about conveying the narrator's feelings and emotions as they go through a love affair which doesn't turn out well. As I say it's well written and performed and is very successful on its own terms and I'd like to know what happens next and how the story ends, but the thought of having to get through another 5 hours of it is just more than I can bear. The only bit of it I actively disliked, as opposed to being bored with, was the sex and bad language which is not something I want to read or listen to. I am not fussed on it in something like Torchwood either, but there it is part of a much bigger whole and I can accept it - here it was all just a bit too much. It's not a bad book, if you like that sort of thing, and I wouldn't want to put anyone off buying it, but it's not for me. As I say I'd like to know how it ends. If someone who has listened to it all wouldn't mind posting it here in spoiler tags I'd be very grateful. The bit I got up to was She finds out she is pregnant
