To be fair, I definitely don't have any expectations for a Danny episode, so I'm hopefully going to be just as pleasantly surprised as you were I haven't even made it through the first episode and I started it Monday - admittedly I was too busy to pay much attention to it, but when I was tuned in, I found Dudman's attempt at 12 so bad I would turn it off. I didn’t even make it all the way through the trailer lol I still think he’s a very talented voice artist though, and I really hope they start giving him some meatier supporting (or even starring?) roles in their other ranges.

I think all this thread proves is that ratings are inconsistent from one reviewer to the next and are best ignored. One reviewer's 6/10 is another reviewer's 9/10.
Read their comments and ignore the rating
I think DWM surveys are different because respondents (not reviewers) are rating each story in the context of every other story and the ratings are based on a broader perspective and should in theory be more sensible. With a review, the reviewer is (usually) rating the story in isolation from other stories and it is easier to arrive at a 10/10 when the reviewer has a much narrower perspective
That's my two pennies' worth anyway!

I dont think I've taken much notice of a review of something I want to read, watch or listen to. If I like the sound of it I just go for it.

Dudman is putting on a good voice, I will give him that. It just isn't the voice of Peter Capaldi. It's about 50% of the way there, but after his amazing 10 and 11 impressions this one just isn't up to scratch. Maybe I liked it more because I haven't heard the other new series Chronicles so in my mind I'm comparing this set with the classic-era CCs where a Companion actor voices the Doctor and we don't expect a perfect impression, if that makes sense? And by that comparison his Twelve is very good imo.

Not that it has anything to do with that specific update, but does anybody know why they started putting sales behind codes in the first place? It’s not like they’re secrets available only to select subscribers or mailing list people or whatever, the ‘code’ is always posted right in the news article, usually right before or after the link to the page where you...put in the code. What does it achieve to put in an extra step for sales that are open to everybody?

I'm not entirely sure about the need for the code, but do you think the way the code works makes it easier for them to manage sales items? I think prior to the codes that take you to a page with the sale items listed, you could see where they were having to manually lower and restore the prices for items in the regular range listings. Sometimes the sale would be announced and the items weren't marked down yet, or it looked like they'd occasionally forget to raise the price back up after the sale. Seems like the way they do things now may make it easier for everyone?

I would think/assume it may be to do with preventing bots/algorithms scanning the prices and reducing them elsewhere, such as Amazon, Amazon Marketplace and e-bay. They want to reward loyal fans, not devalue the brand elsewhere or attract opportunist re-sellers from profiteering.
