Big Finish had said that for the 20th each Doctor would be getting a special box set release. Sixie gets his later this year, is the only Doctor not accounted for 5? Or did I miss it? 5 does seem to be the forgotten Doctor when it comes to box sets. I remember when the 5 Doc Adventures was released they said that Adrian would feature in more boxes and wouldn't join the Mr!

My recollection (from Vortex probably) is that The Contingency Club was originally meant to be part of a second boxset, then they changed their mind to put Adric in the main range after all.

Very true...but that wasn't quite what I meant. 😊 If you search for the Fifth Doctor Boxset on the website and go onto the actual page itself, the title on the page is showing as The Fifth Doctor Adventures - Volume 1. Granted it could have been a massive cock up when the website was revamped, or it could be the intention for a second volume was there but it just never came to pass. Pure speculation though..😉 A lot things get put down as vol 1 though, even though there is no intention/demand to make anymore. Which plays merry hell with my OCD. If you bought the physical edition, you will see that it has number 1 on the cover spine. And it is as much a volume 1 as the following:

It would have been nice for 5 to have his own box run. I do recall people whining that that they were paying more for the botha two MR stories which may have put BF off.

I've long suspected that 5 is the lowest selling of the 4 "main range" Dr. Whos.
Personally, I find this bizarre as I'd argue he is easily the best actor.

It's never seemed to me like most people are that fond of his TV era, and I think I've heard more complaining about too much Ace than too much Nyssa. Also, if someone's wanting to opt out of a particular Doctor in the Monthly Range, it usually seems like it's Seven. I would be all for more Fifth Doctor boxsets. The first one was really something special for the storytelling, not to mention Adric.

I'd give that honour to Colin, personally.

If They wanted to do a special boxset for 5 then they could do One 5th Doctor, Adric/Nyssa/Tegan Story One 5th Doctor and Turlough Story and One 5th Doctor and Peri Story
that way each companion gets a story with him and it makes it all a bit more special- plus Nicola and Peter havent done a story together in 13 years

I would never consider the Fifth Doctor as one of my favourites. As I have said before I stopped watching Doctor Who soon after his arrival. But back when I subscribed to the main range his ongoing stories, first with Erimem and then with the older Nyssa were always eagerly awaited. It is certainly noticeable that, apart from Adric’s return, he hasn’t had any notable releases outside if the main range. I know he has appeared in Classic Doctors : New Monsters as well as in a River box set, but then so has every other Doctor. However his stories are some of my favourites in those.

In the absence of any such info from BF, it just seems to me like this kind of speculation tells us more about the speculator's own likes and dislikes than it tells us about BF's actual sales figures. And I can't imagine BF would ever release that kind of information for fear of causing offence to one of the 3 actors concerned - we know one of them in particular is very sensitive about rankings.
If we go by favourite Dr polls, you would expect Six to be the worst selling. On the other hand, if you set aside which incarnation of the Dr is featured and look at the stories themselves and the critical response and reviews, then Six seems to have a better and more consistent hit rate than Five or Seven. So you could argue it either way.

Does it truly matter though? they could easily use the whole mind wipe and they forget about the extra adventures i mean that would be a neat way of explaining why Erimemen isnt included in 5's Regeneration in Caves

I reckon Seven and Eight would probably sell best. Eight because of his lack of televised era and Seven because him and Ace are really popular in general and a lot of people are introduced to classic who through them nowadays.
Then Six has this massive reputation as being fixed by BF, and with him being pretty consistent I can see why he’d do well.
Plus those three ive mentioned all have stories that fill gaps in their lives which probably increases interest.
Five on the other hand, isn’t a hugely popular or even disliked Doctor so he doesn’t get as much attention. His BF isn’t talked about much either so I can see why he’d be left out.

I agree, but I'm not in charge of BF😂

I'll quickly explain my working. Five has had 81 main range stories and 17 outside the monthlies for a total of 98 As of this month, Six has 80 main range and 37 outside for a total of 117. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I'm guessing the 20 release difference outside the main range is down to a combination of sales and actor availability.
edit:
I'll also add that while I'd love more 5th Doctor, the difference is absolutely understandable. Big Finish have got to follow economics and go where the money is.

I think some of the discrepancy in quantity can be explained by other factors. For instance, Six has 8 more Lost Stories than Five - but that reflects off-screen factors such as the cancellation of the original Season 23 and the availability of producible Lost Stories. Likewise Six has a Stageplay adaptation because he had a real one in 1989, whereas Five never did. Six had a huge gap asking to be filled (e.g. a regeneration story) the Five doesn't really have
