Guess they just wanted to shake things up. Although there isn’t supposed to be too many adventures between Criss-Cross and Quicksilver as Constance says in Absolute Power (which leads directly into Quicksilver) that she doesn’t know the Doctor all that well and has only taken a few trips in the TARDIS. It’s still welcome all the same though.

Interesting. Can’t say I’m surprised though as this was bound to happen sooner rather than later.

Oooooh-kaaay...? The list of things that I'm not going to question gets longer by the day... To be honest, while I am almost certainly going to be buying them when they come out, I'm probably going to need some more information on the series first...

I know BF have a propensity for filling in all the gaps (& I am sure people know how I feel about that!) but I am quite surprised this is happening. I was very excited about the War Doctor range, mainly because of John Hurt, but on reflection they didn't really work for me. The character of the War Doctor didn't really live up to the idea of him in the show, as such it didn't feel that different from other Doctors. So this is a no for me. Although Jonathon Carley's impression of the War Doctor is decent, maybe the pitch of his voice is off at times. Here he is doing that boring speech from the Zygon Inversion.

Honestly really excited for these. Louise Jameson is directing the series which is really cool, and this does feel like it’s been made with extreme love and care for John Hurt’s memory. However, I know this will be a somewhat controversial release due to recasting.

I can understand why some people might have issues with recasting but I’d imagine Mr Briggs and Big Finish probably sought permission from the family/estate of the late John Hurt in order to get their blessing for this. In any case, I always take the view of if they can embody the spirit of the character then I have no issues with it.

More of the inevitable recasts. I've said all I have to say on that topic before, but additionally, do we really need this given the three other Time War series they have on the go? Granted, I question the need for the character to exist in the first place, but they don't consult me on these matters.

I'm very excited for this set, as I've been secretly hoping for some Young War Doctor material. But given that the War Doctor was off limits for the Spragg contest, I wasn't expecting anything to happen. I'm fine with recasts (I think I've said before that as soon as they recast Sarah Jane and The Brig the floodgates were opened). And maybe it's me, but I dont feel over-saturated with Time War content. Then again, I've only been buying up Doctor and Master sets related to that, so I just havn't been listening to all the content.

The Time War is infinite in scope and (although we know the end), while it lasted, it was endless. BF have obviously realised this... ... perhaps they will start selling the Shelves of Infinity too, us CD buyers are obviously going to need them!
This isn't really a recast is it, more a pre-cast. The analogy of the two Obi-Wans is exactly right. In any case, the first really big recast BF did was the Third Doctor, my Doctor, and I love the 3DAs, recast Brig and all. So after that, all 'recasts' are fair game imo.
