Spoilers OR
Bernice Summerfield is back in 2017, with a newly announced set of further adventures...
Coming in September, Lisa Bowerman returns as archaelogist and Time Lord companion Professor Bernice Summerfield, alongside David Warner as the Doctor in Doctor Who - The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield IV: Ruler of the Universe.
Producer and writer James Goss reveals: "In this boxset Bernice is very much the one having adventures, while the Doctor's chained to his desk - and what a desk it is. The last time the Doctor had a job it was as UNIT's scientific adviser - here's hoping that ruling the universe will go a bit better (spoilers: it doesn't). It's just like The West Wing - only with more ghosts, alien warlords, and ancient evils. We see the Doctor fighting an impossible task - one that drives a wedge between him and his only friend."
Doctor Who - The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield IV: Ruler of the Universe can be pre-ordered for £20 on Download or £23 for the five-disc CD set. These prices will be held until the set's general release at the end of October, before becoming £25 and £30 respectively. A digital version is unlocked by any CD purchase as a Big Finish exclusive - best listened to via the free Big Finish app if you're using Apple or Android mobile devices.
Check out the other adventures for Bernice Summerfield at Big Finish, including e-books, Doctor Who novel adaptations, other New Adventures, and an entire range of solo adventures... David Warner's Doctor is just one of those in our what-if-something-had-been-different range of Doctor Who Unbound stories.

Enjoyed the previous sets in this range but the details so far don't seem to reveal anything new or exciting to grab us just yet like the Daleks, Sutekh and The Unbound Universe characters in previous box sets. Still, it's a few months off yet so I'm sure we'll learn more in time and I'll most likely still pick it up, James Goss is a fantastic writer

Fantastic news! The Unbound Universe was my favourite release last year. I loved the stories and the fresh atmosphere that the set had for being set in a different continuity. More vocal excellence from Bowerman, Warner and Gatiss? Count me in :-)

Disappointed. Would much rather have Benny with a proper Dr either 7 or 8

The first box set was one of my favorite things from last year so this was an instant preorder for me.

As soon as I have the funds available to me - so this Friday, then - I'm preordering this! It feels like I've waited forever to hear more about this release! I'm sure this set will be just as good as the last.
I'm not surprised to see Sam Kisgart return as the Master - though for some odd reason his name appears to be misspelled on the cast list as "Mark Gatiss," whoever that is. Not sure how they could have misspelled it THAT badly but maybe they were trying to make Kisgart's return a surprise by listing him under a stage name... 😉

They just made a mistake I guess

Nobody can really impersonate Kisgart. That said will definitely be preordering once I get the funds. Damn my empty wallet!

Or is he? The Master is listed as Gatiss this time. Has Kisgart been airbrushed out of history? We should be told!

Pre-ordered. I don't know if the direction would really be my preference, but as with the last set I'm sure Big Finish will make the experience worthwhile. What I've heard so far of the last one really was very interesting.

Yes. Yes and yes. Also thank you. Warner's Unbound Doctors has become one of my favorites and Benny was and I am sure will continue to be an inspired choice as a companion. This will be pre ordered by Friday.

I defy anyone to listen to Planet X from the last set and not walk away totally enthused about David Warner's alternative version of the 3rd Doctor. The news of this made my day and the only thing that would have made it better was if Unbound 3 and Benny made it into Benny's universe and interacted with some of the Doctors that Benny has traveled with.

So...Warner as the Emperor of the Needle, basically?
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

I still want to see him regenerate into a High-Ideal, Low-Capabilty sort of character... maybe if Kris Marshall doesn't become the TV Doctor he can be the alt-fourth Doctor.
