I've always despised DRM and tend to only purchase DRM free stuff when I can (why I still do DVDs, Blu-Ray instead of downloads from the likes of BBC and Prime). I think that's why it's taken so long to try Audible. I do take the point about 35 hour epic audiobook and while it could be worth it for cheap, large collections, I can't really see myself using the service regularly. Cheers Tony I prefer CDs and DVDs for the same reason. But I imagine I'll get Audible eventually.

Otherwise known as planet "five quid for the entire Sherlock Holmes, or one of many Big Finish boxsets, or eleven hours of 11th dr audiobooks" etc. The price of the product is ridiculously low, and to me at least makes it worth the effort. Personally I'll just wait and pay BF the extra because then they get the full price and can keep on working. To each their own though. The only problem with that approach is that Big Finish keep releasing more. If I wait until I can afford everything direct I'll never catch up. And i don't see it as being disloyal to Big Finish because they choose to use Audible as an outlet.

I found a code online that gives 3 months audible for £3.99 a month (1 credit per month). Less than £13 for 3 audiobooks? Got to be worth giving it another go for that, so I signed up yesterday and bought Alien: River of Pain to go with my free trial Alien: Out of the Shadows. As long as I remember to cancel in July, it will be worth it (thinking of using my other credits for the Tenth Doctor Novel collection and the Torchwood Radio Collection).
Cheers
Tony

They call this latter option an annual subscription but it isn't really as you can do it as often as you like. You can use either cash or your credits to buy audiobooks. Using cash is normally bery expensive, using credits is the only sensible way to go. I buy 24 credits at a time for £109.99, they work out at less than £5 each.

One book, one credit so it makes sense to use credits for expensive books - if it costs you £7.99 for a credit, you don't want to use a credit for anything costing less than the cost of your credit, you may as well buy the book with cash. For things like "Ultimate Sherlock Holmes collection" (currently running at £70+), buy it with one credit and effectively it's only cost you the amount you paid for the credit. If you buy a subscription (say one credit per month), you only get to spend that one credit - if you want more books after that you have to purchase separate credits or use cash. Clear as mud? Basically if you have a credit, you can buy any book (no matter how much it costs) Cheers Tony

After cancelling my audible subscription a few months ago, I've just come across this deal: www.vouchercodes.co.uk/audible.co.uk?rc=4790803First 3 months @ £3.99 per month for 1 credit a month. As I have mercenary tendancies, I've signed up again and instantly pre-ordered the second 10th Doctor novel collection (not bad for £3.99). Just remember to cancel before it goes up to the normal price of £7.99 per month. Thrifty? Tight? Or just careful with my money . Cheers Tony
