It's quite simple - one listens to Hartnell and Bradley wishing all of us at home a merry Christmas and one hears that they don't sound alike saying the same phrase.
(And if one thinks they do then one is wrong.)

Growlin' Billy Hatnell. Sounds like a character from The Gunfighters.

The junkyard scene in An Uneathly Child before Ian and Barbara force their way into the TARDIS. Where does he growl in that? Do you mean the distant cough he makes as he makes his way through the London fog? 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?'

All joking aside, what fandom needs to settle this once and for all is something up on Youtube featuring Hartnell, Bradley, Guilor, Russell, Purves and Elliott all reading the same line, so we can work out who actually sounds like what. I mean, even if it's only a couple of words ("Daleks!) it could be useful.

Hartnell/Bradley comparison can be done easily enough on YouTube: Hartnell: m.youtube.com/watch?v=Um5Cn5eHsGoBradley: m.youtube.com/watch?v=niAJhq9DT_8Now we just need all the others to do it...

Yeah, they're really nothing alike are they. In fact if you watch the video of the first TARDIS scene from An Adventure in Time and Space Bradly is the one who sounds least like his character.

In regards to the spirit of the opening post, I wouldn't be opposed to Bradley doing some readings. They've had people less associated with the series doing readings, so why not? As the earlier cast members get up there in years, we're less likely to be hearing from them often, so getting some other voices in the mix to spread the load can't hurt things.

I really like Peter Purves take on the 1st Doctor in the CC's, the voice is far from spot on, but he get's the mannerisms and speech patterns close enough so that it feels like the 1st Doctor (on a side note, I hadn't realized what a great actor Purves was...), whilst Bradley was a outstanding Hartnell he wasn't quite as convincing as the 1st Doctor.

Some actors voices just aren't good for audiobooks. David Warner for example sounds exactly the same for every character. I prefer someone like Dan Starkey where I can actually tell who's dialogue I'm listening to. I've just a sneaky feeling Bradley would be another reader who always sounds the same.

Here's a thought DB... you're the only one who thinks their voices are the same.
