Hey everyone,
I know Dark Shadows has a deep well of mythos, but I wonder if we'll see a big original villian for full-cast series five?

I mean, we had two original villains leading in Kingdom of the Dead, and we've really no idea what's going to happen in Bloodline, so it's more than possible.

From my incredibly limited secondhand knowledge of Dark Shadows gleamed from this forum and from Fire and Ice, I'd assumed Laura was going to be involved in Bloodline.
I'm happy to be corrected, though

I would be so, so happy if Laura is involved in Bloodline

Would anyone who's played The Master would make a good Dark Shadows villain, or do I just think that because Roger Delgado and Humbert Astredo look remarkably alike somehow if I squint?

After listening to Geoffrey Beevers do a myriad of "American" accents in the Companion Chronicle Mastermind, I think he could do a decent Blair for Big Finish, but I know how gunshy they are about recasts (though their stance does seem to be softening these days).

I would be perfectly happy for the DS crew to continue to grow the cast with assorted relatives and townspeople and just continue to mix in the new with the veterans. And continue with the well considered recasts. Honestly, if you are willing to recast Barnabas Collins, then no other character should be off the table.

I vote Bernard Holley if they ever need to do "Classic Older Barnabas" again. He can both chill your blood and charm you clothes off, and can pull off that "ancient brooding evil Englishman" thing effortlessly, as can be heard over in the Dorian Gray range. He's also got a good working relationship with BF, having shown up in a number of ranges and releases over the years.

You're probably right. I wasn't really suggesting a recasting, though - just that anyone who's ever played The Master (or anyone who even remotely looks like one of them) is one of the people who pops into my head most often when someone says "villain". :-)

It's not just the squinting that does it. For me, it's the gloves. Blair always had those gloves that matched his suit and he wore them all the time. That look, along with the facial hair and the devilish grin and piercing eyes always make me think of Delgado's Master. Delgado always wore those black gloves as part of his outfit and it just completes the whole image for me of both men.

We might just be *racing* ahead of ourselves with talk of details of series five.

That's true but the 'you' that recast Amy and Laura is to be commended as well! I love it when 'you' recast (even though 'you' need to cloak it in "well, that's a younger version of the character" or "well, that's an older version of the character") Yeah whatever. It works for me.

I love Lela and i know somehow she has to meet her demise and man i think Susan Sullivan could be a wonderful villain so much romantic promise in Panic. Now Brian Cox has finished Mclevy now there’s a voice for a great villain failing that Theresa May

Maybe give Alexandra Motlke her wish of getting to come back as a possessed villain. Otherwise, I'd like to see more of Petofi or Judah Zachery in one of their forms.

Has she expressed a wish to be involved ? I have never heard Return to Collinwood but her coming back possessed to claim her inheritance is k ind. of a neat idea

In one of the Dark Shadows interviews years after the original series, she mentioned being offered a job if she would come back as Vicki after she had her first child (which was why she was written off the series- no Rosemary's Baby yet, though they came close with the Leviathan plotline). She said she would only come back if she could be evil, like possessed or a vampire or something. I think she was understandably tired of saying "I don't understand."

Well they must retry and see if she is still interested. Not miss an opportunity.
