The timing of this thread partly amused me because I knew an announcement was imminent. But it also made me sad because I was thinking "no, don't think like that, there are good things coming! There is love!"
Sometimes having a little insider knowledge is agonising - secrets are worth nothing if you can't tell someone.
Still, I'm so excited for Tony and Cassandra. Its great to have Dark Shadows coming that I know *nothing* about.

I can only forgive you if you were threatened with death.

Just going to add: I think Nick really just wants to leave Dark Shadows to those who know the series best. A few years ago, on a podcast, he attempted to hype up the series and made a bit of a blunder and that's why I assume we've had specific dedicated podcasts to the range.
I think it's been harder to promote the Short Story readings due to their very nature. You can't really give too much away, after all, after that initial coverage. But, maybe a splash page in Vortex?

I did feel like Big Finish is fond of Dark Shadows when they announced their new licensing commitment some while back, and I think we've been blessed to have what I think are bonus announcements for the short story collections on account of their release dates being moved up, but it's the lack of build-up on Bloodline that's starting to worry me. I keep feeling like they're just going to spring it on us any minute which may be completely wishful thinking, but with Bloodlust we had podcasts with details and we got to see the first artwork, and then the final artwork - all that that was a lot of fun that went on quite awhile. We had the first Bloodline trailer, but it does sort of feel a bit like nobody ran with that ball? I do sort of wish that with the anniversary at hand, they'd hyped it up more even if it's to be a ways down the road. Nick... I wish he'd get to know Dark Shadows better, I bet he'd love it. I love it for the same main reason I love Doctor Who - they're so different, and there are tons of episodes and such tremendous entertainment value in them. Of course, Nick probably is near the top of my list of people who might be a little too busy to keep up with Dark Shadows...? It would certainly be a shame though for him to be unaware of what brilliant work Joe and Davy and everyone have done. Eh, honestly, I live in constant astonishment that Nick finds time to breathe, to be honest! Let's not forget that he does regular voice work for the new series, goes on tour on stage and is heavily involved with Big Finish and he's a Dad. Given Nick's heavy involvement with Big Finish, I think it's a definite that he's heard some of the BF output, but finding the time to sit down and engage with a five year long weekly soap opera is probably a task too much at present!

Not watching Tomb of the Cybermen and Death the Daleks yet again would free up some time. Okay, JB. I'm going to be plain with you, to be honest: can you pull back a bit? They set up Big Finish as a professional company because they loved Doctor Who and took a significant risk to do so. And yes, it's paid back dividends. Nick is part of the public consciousness as The Daleks, they've had significant success with the new series releases and have an adoring fanbase. But it doesn't change the fact that they work damn hard at it. That they bend over backwards to meet the contradictory needs and wants of an incredible violate fanbase, that they push hard to serve for the legacy of their projects because it matters to them and still strive for new ground on top of the fact that piracy was cutting deep into BF years ago . And let's not forget Nick is a Dad, works hard to be seen as an actor (because maybe he just doesn't want to be defined by one thing) on his own terms and is heavily involved in the new series. I don't know what's going on your life, but Big Finish deserve your respect for what they do. That Nick is a significantly busy man who has his hands in a significant number of projects at Big Finish That often they try to meet the needs of a contradictory and at times, and they spend their time with us - sometimes - because. because they loved Doctor Who and they worked hard at it. They took a risk back then and they did it for the love of it, to continue and to expand upon it's legacy.

Yes, it was clearly a little joke, Michael. You've gone a bit OTT there. JBM wasn't doing anything wrong.

Opinions will always be Your Mileage May Vary (you can tell which website I frequent by my use of the phrase), and sometimes I'm of the opinion that Nick can sometimes impose his opinions to a degree I personally don't agree with (how every podcast needs to get Death to the Daleks references in there), and believe can be toned down. That's just my opinion. I also have the opinion that the segments with Ben are fun, a sentiment not shared by everyone. And yes, tone can be difficult to assess by text alone, between any number of things and SHOUTING VERY LOUDLY!

I'm quite happy with Big Finish's Dark Shadows output this year with the bite-sized stories and the Tony and the Cassandra anthology series one. I just wish they could have put something about them in the Vortex. I'd be even fine if they put them in the next month's issue as an out now advertisement. The podcasts could do the same, but I only listen to the DS specific ones, so maybe they already do. Just a little something in the Vortex and general podcasts to keep Dark Shadows in the mix.

Listening to And Red All Over, I'm reminded how much I am missing new audio Dark Shadows. It seems ages since Tony and Cassandra and months until Maggie and Quentin.
I'm gagging for some new stuff!

Me, too. I've been trying to parse out my listening of the audios and re-watching the show as I go, but I crave new Big Finish material.

I wonder why BF are doing collected DLs and what the current state of Bloodline is?

I wonder why BF are doing collected DLs and what the current state of Bloodline is? As a convenience for listeners (especially new ones) I presume, as with the collected Tony and Cassandra stories? Absolutely fantastic set of stories and a really wonderful opportunity for someone to catch up on Quentin Collins in time for the Quentin & Maggie set. Bloodline... Say, yeah - wasn't there supposed to be an upcoming Dark Shadows release called Bloodline?

I suppose the saddest thing about my absence from Big Finish is how little DS content has been released.
At least it makes it easier to catch up on.

If anyone isn't sure about the purchase, the Quentin stories are very enjoyable, imo. Nice package deal for a nice price.

Bloodline is a massive undertaking, so I'm content to wait. And I don't think we were exactly berefet of Dark Shadows last year

Well, speaking to my original post in this thread—yes, BF came through and gave us much to be grateful for. But shame on whoever wrote that Vortex article about the new Maggie & Quentin set and called it the adventures of “the witch and the immortal”. Confusing Maggie with Cassandra? They should have let Joe or David proofread the piece before going to press. Bad BF!
By the way, hello from Paris where I’ve been to a con with the actors from the TV series ‘Versailles” which includes BF’s own Dorian Gray, Alexander Vlahos—who was perfectly lovely and extremely funny! The con is over, but my vacation continues! Au revoir!
