Wow. This is certainly a pleasant surprise! I have so many questions though!
What level of involvement should we expect from RTD? Is he 'just' a creative consultant, or is he in total creative control/creative control is largely out of BF's hands with his involvement? Is the "marvellous but no" comment from the website article referring to new characters that BF had dreamed up for this "series 5," or did RTD just crap on new creations like Norton Folgate and the Dollhouse ladies? Is the "after Miracle Day" phrasing a choice of words just to benefit the 'casual' fans, who may not be familiar with the post-MD stories that BF has been doing? Were the Gwen-/Rhys-driven post-MD stories designed to build toward this? Has this been the plan since the start, or is it a rejigging of what BF had in mind? Given that RTD seems to love killing off Torchwood characters, is it now only a matter of time until Gwen/Rhys/Andy get killed off in some emotionally devastating fashion? Is this a 'replacement' for the line of single-character-driven stories that we're used to, or can we still look forward to more of those in the future? (MORE Tosh and Owen, please!)
So many things I want to know! (And of course I preordered!)

Presumably this continues BF's post-Series-4 storyline but, seeing as it is Series 5, how will they resolve the Series 4 cliffhanger? I wouldn't mind if they recast Rex and the other new-to-Series-4 regulars. They could still be around given the small-cast and -storyline nature of the Torchwood Stories. But that is unlikely due to the setting returning to Cardiff, and the apparent general dislike of American accents. Will the "something terrible" and the "days getting darker" have something to do with the "Plan B"? Also unlikely.
Given these, I think that, while this will be a very good full-cast, proper-Torchwood-Series, it may fail at being a "Series 5." While the products themselves are only called Alien Among Us, "Series 5" is used in the bundle name and the title of the news article. Why not just call it a "Full-Cast Series" and have the descriptions and article call out the post-Series-4 nature, as they already do?
Also, notice how the full cast list has not been announced. It might be larger than normal, contributing to the 25-each price.
But I'm quibbling here. A 12-episode, full-cast series of Torchwood! Will preorder. (Although it would have been nice if Part 3 included a fifth, making of, disc).

Well, looks like I'm going to have to do a LOT of overtime at work over the next couple of months if I hope to 'grab' the bundle before it's release!

This quote:
"...but there'll be a few other surprises, including an appearance by someone who just has to be, has to be dead..."
has me very curious.
Let the speculation commence!

Digi I doubt RTD said no to Norton or any of the other characters that already appeared or they wouldn't have appeared in the first place.

As soon as I made sure I wasn't dreaming by giving myself another five minutes to wake up, I bought the bundle.

Interesting that Russell T Davies has involvement in this. Makes me hopeful we could have a Russell T Davies Presents box set with either the Ninth or Tenth Doctor one day. If RTD can talk Eccleston into coming aboard!

If RTD can talk Eccleston into coming aboard! Not sure I'd bet on that. I seem to remember hearing that RTD and CE didn't get on, and that was (one of several) reasons that he quit after just one season.

Well I guess this means no TV return for Torchwood but I'm still really excited. This is more like what I hoped for from the Torchwood range.
One thing that's really bugging me though is that on all the product pages Big Finish are giving Eve Myles bottom billing, with Kai Owen coming after John Barrowman. Come on guys, Gwen IS Torchwood, put her second where the co-star of the show belongs.

Loose continuity placement Care of James Goss: Its set after forgotten lives, more than this, made you look but Visiting Hours may be referenced as occurring during the 1st boxset. Regards mark687

Regards mark687 It's got to take place after Forgotten Lives and More Than This because in the latter Gwen is seeking council permission to reestablish the Hub.

Very cool of Eve Myles reminding all the die-hard TW fans that without BF it would be dead in a Actor led broadcast format.
