There's a moment in episode 4 of The Conquest of Far, when ... {Spoiler} ... the Doctor and Jo are reunited ... ... where Tim sounds just like Jon. It really is uncanny.

What a corker! A rip roaring 3rd Doctor adventure with great sound design and supporting cast. A fine 9 out of 10.

I finished up the set this afternoon and at this point it gets my vote for BF release of the year. I think The Conquest of Far is the best Dalek story, TV or Big Finish, in several years and Storm of the Holofax was an even stronger story. Top marks all around and more 3rd Doctor please.

I wasn't a big fan of the first Volume, the narration was jarring & to me displayed a lack of confidence in going with a new actor in the Pertwee role. Haven't listened to the 2nd Volume but loved this! Conquest of Far was a great Dalek story. Storm of the Horofax was fantastic. Tim Treloar really captures the essence of the 3rd Doctor. Oh & the music was great, really captured the era.

The only story that didn't quite do it for me from this Third Doctor series was The Havoc of Empire from the first set, by the usually excellent Andy Lane. Every other tale has been, in my view excellent. I haven't heard yet Storm of Horofax yet - I'm hoping to find a couple of uninterrupted hours

Finished this release today.
Conquest of Far was a lot of fun. Quite traditional i thought and didn't really stretch itself. This sounds like a criticism but it isn't. i really enjoyed it.
Storm of the Horofax - what a great story. Enjoyed every aspect of it. Definitely a candidate for best 3rd Doctor release from BF. Looking forward to volume 4.............and the cybermen!!

Of course, he only said that once in his entire TV era. It turns up more often outside the Pertwee era than in. He only used the line in its entirety in The Sea Devils and The Five Doctors. In the latter it was rather like the companion twisting their ankle, despite it seeming like a companion cliche it only happened two or three times before that point. Susan in Dalek Invasion of Earth, Sarah in The Android Invasion and Adric in The Visitation (to show his Alzarian healing). If the expanded universe is anything to go by it happened all the time.

Are the Cybermen confirmed?! i noticed each set is a future story and a mondern day - isn't it time for an historical? I know they're recreating an era but it would be fun to think outside the (police) box...

Wishful thinking about the Cybermen methinks.

I like how each set is being faithful to the content of the Third Doctor's unique TV era - one 'present-day' Earthbound story (more actual UNIT content would be good please BF!) and one set somewhere in space. The scripts for Vol 4 are in (producer David Richardson said so on the interviews CD) but no mention of the content of course except ""They're really great Third Doctor stories". And that assurance will do for me, a pre-order will be placed at the first opportunity!

More UNIT would be good especially now John Levene seesm to be back on call. The main elephant in the room is the absence of the Brigadier, I think now time has past I wouldn't be against a recast if they can find the right man for the job

I think, if we continue to get a Third Doctor box set every year, as we are doing now, then The Brig can be 'away in Geneva' during earth stories. If the 4DAs were more regular (I wish they were), then the absence of the old boy would be a bit of a problem. I'm very wary about recasts - especially as we already have Tim (who is escellent, and has opened my eyes to the idea of recasts a lot) - but I'm sure the television show would have recast the character if need be. Or bring in another Brig-type like they did in The Seeeds of Doom with Major Beresford, or Faraday in The Android Invasion.

I know John but it's a great line & one fan's remember despite only being used a couple of times, I'd settlement for just "reverse the polarity" What i will say though is all three volumes capture Jon's Doctor brilliantly & i commend all the writers involved for bringing one of my favourite eras faithfully to full cast audio.

Do a Third Doctor Volume 4 with the Cybermen, Benton, Yates & Jo & I'll pre-order it now, the Third Doctor battling Cybermen would be awesome surely it's a no brainer.
