The Prisoner was a great show. My husband and I loved it.

It's intriguing to see that the current Amazon.co.uk release date for The Prisoner CD is set at January 31, 2016. Within at least 2 news announcements Big Finish has stated: "The set not available on sale beyond our website until the end of March 2016."

Amazon didn't move The War Doctor or some of TW back till recently so they go with BF's first dates then move it back later. Is it worth £10.25 to get it early? Up to each of us as indivudals. Nice to have the choice though. Seems a lot of BF's 40 quid boxsets are 25% cheaper pre-release on Amazon. Sixie's certainly was, Worlds Of Doctor Who was and this is. That's quite a gap.

Is it worth £10.25 to get it early? When it comes to savings the speed of getting a Big Finish release into my hands is not a priority for me. However, I seem to be hell-bent on wanting/needing the download backup that comes along with the CD when purchasing it from the Big Finish website. Financially irresponsible - yes! The other priority with me is securing a CD copy before it goes out of print, which historically pertaining to newer releases isn't likely to happen. From a Canadian perspective it costs £24.38 (VAT removed like it should be) + £6.98 shipping to pre-order The Prisoner CD from Amazon.co.uk opposed to £40 + £4 from BigFinish.com. It cost me £12.64 more for a digital backup! And that's assuming customs and taxes are not applied at the Canadian boarder to my CD parcel when it arrives. Even with savings, it might be difficult for speedster like you David to wait additional months to listen to this Big Finish audio release? This strategy of Big Finish making their satellite vendors wait additional time for their physical stock to be allowed to sell is an interesting one.

Is this the same limited boxset or have they produced a standard one for Amazon? I could have sworn I'd read that the limited Boxset would only br available from BF's site, or did I mis-read that? It could have been exclusively available from BF first. I'll have to look back at the news updates.
Still not sure, but the Amazon price does seem to be more realistic.
Cheers

Cheers Tony Edit: from their website "With the set not available on sale beyond our website until the end of March 2016, it's the perfect opportunity to ensure you're one of the first to listen!" That's not 31st January!

Amazon are notorious for changing release dates anyway, so it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case. Cheers Tony

This strategy of Big Finish making their satellite vendors wait additional time for their physical stock to be allowed to sell is an interesting one. With my reservations about this one - the fact that its not just recapturing the tone but is comprised almost entirely of remade episodes - I'm in no rush. I expect to like it, appreciate it perhaps but find it redundant. Will I ever - if I want to experience The Chimes Of Big Ben pick Mark Elstob instead of Patrick McGoohan? I honestly can't see it happening. So I'd really be buying for the one new ep...and 40 quid is a lot for that one item. So is 28 but its a lot better than 40. We're not going to get an answer imminently but I can only imagine the licensing for the property was so high BF had to pass the premium onto listeners. If it was £20 in standard casing there'd be a lot more new fans taking a punt and a lot more exisiting fans less peeved at shelling out for stories they already know backwards and forwards.

the Amazon price does seem to be more realistic. Of course it is, and so it should be! Let us not forget BigFinish.com is the distributor for these affiliated vendors. These representative vendors are only really left with the option of selling their physical stock of Big Finish products for less than the main distributor. Thank goodness for having the cheaper option to buy from the Amazons, Book Depository, Doctor Who specialty shops, etc. I doubt it will happen, but I would like to see the *pre-order prices* from BigFinish.com to resemble a little closer to the street prices of their products.

I would have paid for the download about that price so it is a no brainier. It's a shame I won't get the download but as I'm saving over 10 quid it's an ok loss. Note: it doesn't give an estimate delivery date. It says estimated delivery: not yet available

The American Amazon site doesn't list the price yet, but does state that the release date is Jan. 31.

OK, after asking the question originally, and listening to the half hour trailer, I gave in yesterday and ordered the set. Now I'm really looking forward to it. I just wish NB had the same passion for Blake's 7 and would give us some information on that.

There are more Liberator Chronicles on the way, plus more Full Casts.
