With television Doctor Who lots of people are wondering what the change of producer will mean to the show....
..but another well loved series is undergoing a change in management - Jago & Litefoot!!
What will that mean for the show? Will there be a radical change in direction for the series? Will the format change? Will we get less or more episodes each year? And how long will we have to wait before it returns?

Of course Ian Atkins has already produced our dynamic detective duo in the short trips range - I finally succumbed to buying them yesterday to get my order to £50.
Previously I was boycotting them in protest for them being download only. And that is my number one fear that we will get more of those type of releases!
An irrational fear in all probability, but until other titles are announced those recent short trips are the only indication of what is to come!

Does anyone know if Justin Richards moved off the range with David Richardson or is he staying in place? I would imagine we won't see much of a difference with the finished product. Ian brings a fresh pair of eyes, so we might see stories broken in a different way but with the boys still there along with Lisa, everyone knows what the show is.

The march of time and progress is inevitable I think, so CD's days at BF are indeed numbered. It may take a year or three, but they will be phased out. For financial reasons my buying has changed from 100% CD to probably about 40% CD, and BF have noticed this trend from their customer base.

Speaking as someone who has been buying CDs since the early/mid 1980s, I have read about the death knell of the format for decades. SACD was going to spell the end. MP3s were going to spell the end. Streaming was going to spell the end. Vinyl was going to spell the end. Yes, the amount of physical media purchased has greatly decreased but there are still a lot of people who buy CDs. I think 3 to 5 years is probably several years too soon.

With other ranges now moving to boxsets I think they will continue with the four disc sets. It would be jarring after 13 boxes to suddenly change the format or even the overall look of the packaging.
Unless they do decide to go disc free then they could change whatever...
Perhaps I am one of the very few who is trying to stand in the way of the march of time.

I think whether we notice the change will depend on just how much of an active hand he has in coming up with storylines and breakdowns for each set, and also how much, if any, the active writers pool on the line changes. If Mr Atkins has strong and specific ideas and opinions on direction and story, then we may well notice a change, particularly if new writers are on board and peppered in as well. If it's largely (or completely) the same writers, and he's taking more of a guiding hand approach, then we may not notice much at all, given the combined amount of experience the regulars all have in writing for these characters and their world. It should also be noted that even if we do notice a change, that may not necessarily be a bad thing, nothing wrong with fresh eyes and a fresh perspective, just so long as any new ideas are good and worthwhile ones.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The big question is, how long will be have to wait before we start finding out?

I ha ve jsut looked it up and see that Series 11 and 12 were announced in January 2016 and series 13 was announced before series 12 had been released. As series 11 was released in April 2016 there was only a four month pre-order window for that, so I am still hoping for an October release for series 14. However I wish I had Jago & Litefoot pre-ordered as far in advance as I have the Fourth Doctor!

I really like J&L. Hope there will be another box set released this year.
No mention of J&L in Vortex either, last time that happened was years ago?
They are so close to reaching ten years with B.F.. If we are so blessed next during September 2018 they will be able to record the 10th anniversary story.
