Probably just don't want to announce the reader yet, as it's not due out till November they probably will want to hold it back.

more likely they just haven't confirmed the narrators for them.

Still, an audio drama with Peter Capaldi would be much better than an audiobook.

They've put up covers for their Target readings before announcing the reader in the past.

It looks like all the other single reader audio stories from the BBC - even the comment about played on TV by Peter Capaldi is standard wording.

It would be good if they get Peter Capaldi to read It, but I do wish BBC Audio were more ambitious with their releases rather than relying on audiobooks. Why not experiment with an audio drama featuring the current TARDIS crew and see how popular it is?

Hornets Nest, Demon Quest and Serpent Crest are all full-cast. Presumably it's just too hard to arrange getting the current cast involved.

They could have easily done it in 2016 when there was no new series, before or inbetween filming of Series 10.

I read somewhere that because Moffat signed on for series 10 so late he didn't have time to sign off some of the merchandising for the year, possibly explaining why there weren't any 12th Doctor novels that year (don't know if that is true), or maybe the BBC wanted to rest all in house promotion for the franchise so they could relaunch it anew in 2017. Shame the BBC no longer seems to have any interest/money for animated Who adventures/ webisodes akin to the stuff Tennant and Smith had, it wouldn't have been much but it would have made the gap feel less empty... I wonder if we should read into the fact that Capaldi (unlike Tennant and Smith) hasn't read any of the BBC Who audiobooks, it's comparatively quick and easy work, maybe he wasn't approached or not interested...

I'd 'prefer' to think he wasn't interested. That he hasn't been approached would be a huge waste - he has a great voice.

He only gets two months of the year off when filming Who can't say I blame him if he wanted to relax and spent more time with his family instead. I wonder if they approached John Hurt to read the Engines of War audiobook (heard good things about Briggs reading, but as a big fan of that novel I can't help but wonder what might have been)
