Don't quote me, because I try to stay as spoiler free as I can before listening to any new releases, but I was under the impression that the different stories in this first box set were all set at different points during series C. Where exactly each slots in, that I couldn't tell you, at least not yet, though the first Dayna centric story I believe is set soon after the first episode that introduced her character. In the excerpt Vila tells Dayne she's new, so clearly very early on. Their main goal also indicates this strongly.

Anybody know the date of this release? I just can't wait - I'm so looking forward to it. Hoping it's out before I'm off on holiday at the end of the month

Hoping it's out before I'm off on holiday at the end of the month Well they often hold back a tentpole boxset for the last Thursday of the month and this could well fit the bill. Especially if we get a boxset this week.

From Vortex 101 (page 4): Spoils of War set between C12/13 But first adventure of Spoils of War set immediately after C02 This doesn't make sense, does it?

Blimey. I'm excited about it... but I'm not sure I'm THAT excited about it.

Spoils of war, and the subsequent three box sets, each form a season. Spoils of war is series 3 and takes place after c2. Series 4 (which was untitled at that point) is set after c12.

It's a good thing I'm catching up on my Blake's 7 listening.

It'll be good to know I can expect another Blake's 7 fix any Dayna now.

I'm about halfway through this and really, really liking it, plus I am so happy just that Blake's 7 is once again in the here and the now. Don't know about anyone else, but I think Yasmin really does make a great Dayna.

According to the extras we can expect a Blake's 7 anthology release (probably a book) later in the year. It will contain stories that were originally scripts that included Blake in the cast, but obviously now unfeasible as full cast audios.

Just finished listening to Liberation, and I must say that, amongst my current disillusionment with current events, it is great to know some things are dependably good. Although it has been a while since Blakes 7's BF last output, hearing from Avon, Tarrant and crew here, it's like they've hardly been away. It takes no time at all to get used to Yasmin Bannerman as Dayna (my only slight issue is that she and Rokon - Sara Powell - sound similar). It's good also that in a way, this first episode revolves around Dayna a little; whilst hardly an introduction for the character, we are invited to recalculate what we know about her, alongside the rest of the crew.
I love that Blake's 7 is back, I love that it continues as a series of box-sets that forms a larger arc. I love ti also, that Steve Lyons is in charge of re-introducing the series - he's a writer we don't seem to hear enough of these days.

It's definitely a different tone from the rest of the story, but Vila reluctantly getting intimate with the villain of the piece is very funny, especially when Tarrant has to find Vila in a state of undress. He's a magnet for people from his past returning to his present.
And please let Sofia write more.

OutpostIt occurs to me that this box-set features a slightly different style than previous BF full cast Blake's 7 stories. Happily, at least with this and Liberation, the crew are splintered - often into pairs - and we have the benefit of some good dialogue and conversational battles reminiscent of the Liberator Chronicles, but with the benefit of a fuller cast. Whether this is a cost-cutting exercise or a creative decision doesn't really matter: it works very well. In fact, the dialogue between Vila and Tarrant is some of the funniest I remember ever hearing Blake's 7. Like this box-set opener, this story is solid rather than spectacular (which I have no problem with), but has some very nice character exploration: it's interesting hearing Vila and Tarrant discuss other members of the crew and their place within it, and it is interesting that Tarrant is mistaken for Blake more than once, bearing in mind he was his 'replacement' on television. The ending in particular was a highlight, and it was nice to hear John Ainsworth in a couple of cameos

Close Enough.
Strangely enough, I was watching TV's Powerplay today, and find that this has occasional similarities. It is strange to hear Avon vulnerable - or seemingly so - and also very nice to hear Cally being used in the story a lot, along with her telepathic skills, which come in especialy useful. This story, like Outpost before it, features a split up Liberator crew with Avon and Cally taking up the bulk of the action. Strangely, despite her recasting Dayna, alongside Vila, is barely featured at all. Sophia McDougall's story is solid, a fine character study and very involving and I hope she writes for BF again soon (I love the use of the story's title in the dialogue), but part of my mind would really like a story featuring all the the cast together; with perhaps a juicy villain (Travis, where are you? Or a Brian Blessed, a Geoffrey Burridge or a ... Colin Baker?), a few explosions, a monster or a gun/space fight. I love slower-burning stories, but I like the hell-for-leather spectacular epics too

I liked the set overall. The first two stories did a good job of the Big Finish classic "filling in the gap" by showing us the core crew's reaction to Dayna and Tarrant, and visa versa. The latter two are good stories on their own, though I felt the final story of the box was a bit... I don't know, lacking in originality? Still fun to listen to though!
