The trailer is up, and sounds like one of those trailers that contains mainly clips from Episode 1.
An Eddie Robson story, those usually don't fail to be enjoyable.

And this time, presumably quality in metal saws, hammers, rivet guns and welding torches... Agree, 'The Secret History' is a favourite of mine and I really enjoyed his new take on my Doctor's final foes as the eight-legs returned to encounter the Eighth Doctor. (And another new one to look forward to next month.)

Let's see... The idea of focusing on Mel's computer programming skills is very commendable, but it might have been a bit like ticking a box here in that it didn't seem to turn out any different than what my basic expections might be? For me, I think that made it seem a little unnecessary and sort of highlighted that we have had lots of great stories with Melanie in spite of the oversight of "a computer programmer who never gets anywhere near a computer" going unaddressed?
Not at all sure why I should even notice, I guess maybe I'm hoping Mel having a second tenure with the Seventh Doctor would have her feeling more sure that's where she wants to be is with The Doctor, rather than ready to ditch him that quick for a computing job?
I sort of hate to say that, there really isn't much room for criticism here as far as I'm concerned - this was a particularly engaging story (so much so that I even listened to the behind-the-scenes clip immediately following which I almost never do, but I was enthused) with splendid performances all around, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed hearing.

I've heard the first two episodes and am so far quite enjoying it. There's something I love about Sylvester and his Doctor - a truly quirky, eccentric delivery, as if the Doctor is both flummoxed and in control at the same time. I would, however, like this TARDIS team to have a really great story. My favourite so far has been Fiesta of the Damned, which I think is something of an underrated gem. Perhaps this will turn out to be that story I crave - it certainly has potential.

This is somewhat lifeless.
Lots of interesting ideas but it never really becomes any more than a standard runaround. I don't think Parking was one of John Dorney's absolute best but it was sparky and fun while this feels like it is going through the motions.
There's a lot of running around from place to place but no scene really comes to life and none of the guest cast really stand out in a sea of blandness. The actor playing Stuart gives one of the least interesting performances in Big Finish history. Maybe with a more dynamic director it might have been stronger as the whole thing was very flat.
I don't think this Tardis team is being very well served and it seems odd that in one story Constance and Flip have had more interaction and a more convincing relationship set up then Mel & Ace have it what five now. They might as well just have made these Seventh Doctor and Mel stories and ditched Ace.

What is the *point* of these Seven/Mel/Ace stories meant to actually be? The fact that this Mel is post-Dragonfire has been totally irrelevant, and there's no feeling they're building up to something.

There's a clumsy scene with the Doctor and Mel where he says he could just resolve the situation by going back in time and changing his involvement in the planet's history, Ace would support it, but Mel objects, and the Doctor's glad she's back to restrain him from drastic actions
So I agree if there's an overall Arc with older Mel its flimsy and re-in maturing Ace doesn't sit well.
As to this story good VNA vibe, and great to hear something by Eddie Robson again.

Enjoyed this one, i like Eddie Robsons style of writing & i thought the concept using the dock yards was a nice touch & finally Mel is being written like a three dimensional character with the BF writers giving Mel some depth.
A solid 8/10

I liked the first episode but I started to get confused and bored as this one went on. I also really wish there was more Mel & Ace interaction in these.

The fact that this Mel is post-Dragonfire has been totally irrelevant, and there's no feeling they're building up to something. To each their own of course but personally I though post-Dragonfire Mel was relevant just for being post-Dragonfire Mel, plus I didn't think hers was a very rewarding departure, just scurrying off with a scoundrel. I had really wished - I don't know, that spending time in the company of The Doctor had taught her more self-respect concerning the company she keeps, or something like that? As has been mentioned, there's been some character-building for Mel that she didn't get on the TV series, and also I don't seem to have heard as much lately of something I used to hear fairly frequently, which is people who might somewhat understandably feel like Ace has been overused. I'm happy to think it if they can be better served without getting rid of Ace. I don't mind myself if this maybe wasn't the greatest story for Ace, because it clearly seemed like the spotlight was supposed to fall mainly on Melanie this time, and I still find that fairly refreshing.
