I found the first few minutes pretty flat and almost nodded off. Thankfully this improved by part two. Definitely he weakest offering of the year for the range.

Bit of a slow burner this & one i feel will fare better when the conclusion is released, intriguing story that kept my interest despite the slow start.
Gets a 7/10 from me.

There was a bit of a State of Decay vibe here, what with an old settlement based around something from the depths of Time Lord history. There's even old Gallifreyan records.

I enjoyed it but didn't realize we were near the end of the current series and it would be part 1 of two. So, the cliffhanger was a bit of a surprise. Is there anyone else from Gallifrey who doesn't end up as a villain?
I am looking forward to seeing out how things turn out.

It is stated on the website that it continues into the next episode, and that it's part 1 of a two part story is in the thread title. I suppose you could have been an early subscriber and didn't see the notice.

I didn't go to this thread until I finished listening to it. It is all on me that I didn't realize until I was the last track of the story that there was more to come in another release and there weren't more story tracks ahead.

Um....so....
What exactly did Sattya call Romana after abandoning her on the surface? It sort of cuts off mid-insult, but sounded rather like "You insufferable little ----", starting with a "c". I think you can guess what I'm getting at. I've played it several times. Sounded rather like a certain four letter word that I understand is treated like a much worse curse over here in the states than in England.
Is there another similar sounding British insult? Is my foul mind filling in details that aren't there?
I mean....I don't mind. I can curse like a sailor in the right mood. But it did seem rather out of place for big finish, which to my memory has said "damn", "ass", and "bitch" only a few times across several hundred episodes. (There was also a "shit" or two in Dalek Empire). But they tend to keep it rather toned down in terms of language for stuff with a Doctor in voice role.
As for the episode, as other said, slow. But, I'm quite intrigued. So as long as P2 sticks the landing, I'll be quite happy. Don't have much to say until I hear the rest.

Some good world building here, but not the most exciting adventure. Things may improve with part 2.

The end scene where Romana pleads with Satia not to abandon her is really fantastic work by Lalla. She totally sells me on the desolation of her situation - I've often said Lalla is a bit one note on audio (though a good note!) but she really proved me wrong in that few minutes, she was quite harrowing.
A nice set up, a tad slow perhaps but with a real sense of mythos (including the v.o.) that evokes nothing so much BF as it does Death Comes To Time which is a plus in my book.

Nice world building in this story. A little slow, but it’s a four part story so not an issue. Romana gets to be a bit fun in this, and the idea of her having a frenemy from the Academy is a great one. That said, I can’t imagine a young Romana I being as ego driven and snarky as what she’s like in her second incarnation, so it was difficult to imagine that! Great cliffhanger too that shows a more vulnerable side to Romana, well played by Lalla.
The Doctor very much takes a back seat, but Tom still continues to be on fine form this series.

I was just going straight through the stories and didn't realize this was a two-part story till that cliff hanger came.
Very odd world, and I sure wondered what the heck Romana's Time Lord friend was doing on it. I was not prepared for her to turn out to be the villain, that's for sure!
