QUICK - Get William Hughes on the phone! Oh... hang on...
I quite like the theory – can't claim credit for it – that the Hughes Master is the Time War child body Master being re-indoctrinated by the CIA, hence why none of the prior Masters mention those drums that the post-Time War Master was obsessed with. It doesn't quite fit, but it's a decent fix to that odd RTD decision to have the Master motivated by something he'd never mentioned before. Oh! I quite like that

I too like this theory, but with this theory how was the Time War Child created? Was it a regeneration of the Master or was it created from the DNA of the Master or was it created as the Time War Child with nothing to do with the Master, but was corrupted someone to think he was the Master? and was the Time War Child the same as the Nightmare Child?

I've just realised. That there are 4 storise per box not 3 like the war Doctor
It's more of a shame he won't meet up with a Doctor...
Mind you.
Master vs River for a future box.
That's a nice plate of meatballs.

That's a nice plate of meatballs. I'd like to see the War Master, Saxon Master and Missy team up in a future box set assuming Big Finish get the rights to the 12th Doctor era as soon as this year's Christmas Special is over.

That's a nice plate of meatballs. I was surprised that they didn't go down the three story route like they did with The War Doctor. I was surprised they didn't do it with the Fourth Doctor Adventures boxsets. In the case of The War Master this decision does lead me to suspect that this will be a one-off set. Surely it cannot be the case that Big Finish are unsure about the reception it will get and are only testing the waters with this release? If they could have gotten Jacobi for more they would have promoted it as volume one and even put the others up for pre-order. (Obviously I hope I am wrong)

Big Finish don't seem to do many one-off sets though so I hope there will be at least three more volumes.

Digging the cast list, as per the new DWM. The War Master vs Nerys Hughes? He won't know what hit him!

Drax. As long as he's not played for comedy like he was in the Drax Show, Guest Starring the Dumb Doctor and the Ice Queen Romana. Each of them have their skills. The Monk is a great person to have as a people person, the face of the group. The Rani is the scientific adviser. The Eleven can be the strategist (eleven lives on tap, that's got to have some tactical advantage). Drax can be tech support, fixing up the get-away TARDIS so it's fast and undetectable. And what better for plausible deniability than renegades? It worked when the Time Lords were using the Third and Fourth Doctor. The novel The Quantum Archangel at one point had many different timelines, including one where the renegade Time Lords teamed up. The War Monk - David Mitchell The War Rani - Gillian Anderson The War Eleven - Same actor, Mark Bonnar The War Drax - Simon Pegg (Wouldn't have to be a comedy Drax, Simon Pegg has done dramatic acting too) ok if you want Scilly as the Rani, I want Mitch Pileggi, as the Monk. No more half ass monk, make him a bad ass monk.

Watch the special features for season 4, when Skinner and X fight, it's a for real wwe fight. Scripted, but violent cause they couldn't get it right otherwise.

I think I'd like a Master range rather than a War Master range specifically. Keep this a one-off, but have two or three other Master sets to support it. A political, House of Cards-esque set with John Simm during the Saxon era would be very cool. I think Big Finish could also probably get away with a set post-The End of Time in the lead up to World Enough and Time / The Doctor Falls. A Missy set when the time comes would be welcome too. The leadup to her execution in Extremis maybe?

If I can only name one thing Big Finish truly excel in, it's bringing together a perfect cast. I've never heard of an actor have a bad time, apart from that John Levene dirty microphone thing (and even then he came back for Assembled).

Great cast including familiar BF names - and a companion for the Master! It's not a position I'd choose... how did Missy describe Bill & Nardole? Ah yes: 'expendables'... I just listened to the trailer again - one of the great BF trailers IMO. I can't say I often find trailers all that inspiring - but this one makes me want the boxset NOW! Of all the BF Time War-focused sets released or announced to date, this is the one which has really grabbed my attention and looks the most exciting. (I know that Eighth and War Doctor fans will disagree; fair enough, I am not the Master and you can ignore me, you can ignore me... )
