There's not much to be going on with this announcement at present, other than the fact it stars Lalla Ward and Louise Jameson and is out in February 2018.
However, I think it's a great direction to be heading in. Can't wait to see a more political take on the Time War; I hope they manage to get Jacqueline Pearce and Ken Bones on board. To here the four of them clash!

It's interesting that we're skipping ahead so far though - Romana was eventually replaced by Bulek (and later Straxus) as the coordinator of the CIA, after all, with Narvin taking over the role once again when things got bad enough. But by Doomco, there was a new person in charge again. And the President was played by Tim Treloar, but he never gave his name so he could have been a regenerated Livia. And! Spoilers for Wardoc 4: When Leela met the Doctor near the end of the Time War, he said everyone she knew on Gallifrey was long gone, so this must be quite early in the fight. (Maybe a Paul McGann cameo is in store?)

I wonder if they could persuade Timothy Dalton to return as Rassilon...

BF has created some fascinating eras, and I'd love for them to play within their own timeline as much as exploring new ones.

I'm sure The Time War will literally last for years. This boxset was totally inevitable and I bet you Briggs will use this to revive the Dalek Empire brand.
I wonder if the cover will continue to use images of Lalla and Louise from the 70s or if they'll start using pictures of them as they are now in modern Time Lord gear?

I haven't listened to the other Gallifrey sets, but I'm definitely interested in this one. I love how Big Finish are so keen to keep exploring the Time War.

I believe the image of Jameson used for the War Doctor covers was a more current one so quite possibly. I haven't managed to get into Gallifrey yet so hopefully this is a good jumping on point.

I bet that Lalla Ward Romana will regenerate into Juliet Landau Romana. And that Leela will be displaced from time and space and eventually one she meet the War Doctor. So I looking forward to this boxset. What will be happening with Brax, Narvin and Ace?

I'm one of the few who have kept buying Gallifrey audios and then were disappointed in most of them, so I'm not feeling the love here. Sorry, folks.

I love the Gallifrey audios. A return of major characters from those releases would be so much fun. And Ollistra would be great.

To me, the first three series of Gallifrey are amongst the very best that Big Finish have put out. They felt unique, deep and complex. The following series, while never less than entertaining, lacked the depth of quality of what had come before, as they went for a more traditionally populist approach in the kinds of stories they told, and how they told them. Personally I found the change a bit jarring at the time. It was like sitting down to watch The West Wing and half way through it suddenly turns into Designated Survivor. Now, I don't hate Designated Survivor, it's a perfectly enjoyable piece of disposable entertainment, but I loved The West Wing, and that was just a show that operated on a higher level in practically every regard.
As such, I'm always hoping they bring back some of the political intrigue and complexity of the early sets at some point. And under the shadow of the Time War, and the chaos that surrounds it would be a perfect opportunity for that to happen naturally in my opinion. Though to be honest, I don't expect it will at this point, and I imagine it will continue along the same path as recent years, a series that I still enjoy for what it is, but which doesn't seem to have much that really distinguishes it from most other Who releases these days.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I demand Time Lord Ace killing Daleks. I love Romana and Leela, but killing Daleks is Ace's schtick.

I bet that Lalla Ward Romana will regenerate into Juliet Landau Romana. You'd lose that bet. I'd make sure to be somewhere that's else if that idea ever gets suggested to Lalla.

So my hypothesis would be that we will get this Gallifrey Time War set as a reintroduction of the characters ready for them to intertwine into the Eighth Doctor Time War series of boxsets.
Or do you expect that we will get more Gallifrey Time War stand alone sets that will run concurrently with the McGann series with limited, if any, cross over?
