Right but we've barely seen any of Rasillon's unlike The Doctor so you don't even need some sci-fi explanation of why he has more lives. He can come back as a new actor and it's just one of his non-Dalton, Warrington, Matthews, Sumpter bodies. Or since he's using Valerian's body as a conduit to come back he just stays as David Sibley for a bit, I guess. We've had a few... Richard Mathews in The Five Doctors, Don Warrington in the lead-up to and run of the Divergent Universe storyline, Dalton in The End of Time, and most recently Donald Sumpter in Hell Bent. I guess, aside from Warrington, we haven't seen any of them at length though. Yes, I know - since I listed the exact same ones in the post you quoted.

There's also the Rassilon from the 1980s comics, which was actually the first version of Rassilon shown anywhere.

Ace's story isn't the cliffhanger the ending suggests - we know exactly what happens to her if you listen after the closing theme. Ace is hardly left without her problems though - dumped back on (20thC) Earth near the "A Four Zero" with her memory partly wiped and evidently believing that the departing figure in his TARDIS was another, unknown incarnation of the Doctor... I thought it was a novel twist having another cliffhanger after the cliffhanger and I wondered where Ace's story will go from there. (And it reassured us that Braxiatel at war is ruthless, but not another complete monster. Which was welcome - Time Lords can't all be Rassilon or the Master or things would get very predictable!)

I'd say Ace's story is less a cliffhanger - which implies immediacy and urgency to resolve in the future - and more a chance to start something new with her at an undetermined point. She is at least safe and out of danger. She may have problems - when does she not? - but I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger when Brax intentionally took her out of danger. If anything that scene removes the cliffhanger - probably intentionally so Leela and Ace don't get almost identical stories. And even without that scene you'd be reassured of Brax's ultimately not evil intents when he rescues Narvin anyway I suppose.

Could it be a set up for her being back on Earth to form 'A Charitable Earth', as in SJA? There are so many characters to bring in though. Will Jacqueline Pearce return as Ollistra? The General, Androgar? Ohilia and the Sisterhood? We know that Susan is now part of the war. Presumably some of these characters will appear in different Time War ranges, Eighth Doctor and Gallifrey. Then there are other renegades like The Monk and The Rani Also Leela survives to meet The War Doctor, so she's not entirely gone.

Just finished the final story. As others have said, it’s quite predictable the way the story goes, as it’s well seeded in the preceding stories, but a great listen nonetheless. I love the interaction between Romana and the Emperor Dalek, who I think is great!
I do think that’s the last of Ace and Leela in the range. Ace is given a new beginning that Big Finish may take up and Leela’s departure leads nicely into where we next hear from her in The War Doctor. It’s a neat way to get rid of some of the previous main players to make way for new ones. As I’ve previously mentioned, Ollistra and The General seem obvious choices to be on the War Council in future sets; Ollistra even gets name checked! Ohila and the Sisterhood of Karn would make for an interesting party, perhaps coming to the aid of Romana and co. as the stakes get higher.
Yeah, good set in its own right, but definitely putting the pieces in place to play the long game. And I suspect this is a range that will go four sets and beyond.

I liked this set. First episode took a while to get going, but when it did was good. Second and third were great, love the ambiguity of Braxiatel (Poor Ace, guess she's destined to hitchhike along the A40 and found A Charitable Earth) and Jacobi's Master is a force of nature. The fourth episode tied everything up nicely and set up for future instalments (hopefully). Really do question Romana's decisions though, did she seriously think the talks with the Emperor would achieve anything?
I think Ace's fate feels fairly final in terms of Gallifrey, but I don't think Leela's is. I don't think her fate here matches up with War Doctor 4. From what I remember, she got where she was in War Doc 4 after coming into contact with a Dalek with a temporal weapon on a battlefield during a Time Lord attack.

Managed to binge through all four episodes yesterday and was fairly impressed for the most part. It was easy to predict from the first episode that Project Revenant would be the big plot device for bringing Rassilon back (there was a story in the Seasons of War charity collection that covered his resurrection in a similar manner - non-canon of course) but just because it was predictable didn't make it any less suspenseful. All in all I enjoyed Celestial Intervention and Desperate Measures the most, what with their timeliness in regard to today's politics and the usual power dynamics I've come to love from Gallifrey, and will be picking up Volume 2 when it inevitably comes available.

Good point about Leela’s fate in this not necessarily matching that she tells in Casualties of War. It’d be interesting if the next Gallifrey set had a story with Leela that’s an aside from the other three, telling her story and that could lead into the Dalek and its temporal weapon. A nice victory for the Daleks early on in the Time War too.

So, considering Leela's fate in WD4.3, and an obvious gap between this and that, Dalek Empire:The Time War? Detailing that, plus the loss of Davros from the Dalek POV? Rather than shoehorning a "non Gallifrey" Leela story into a future Gallifrey release.

Leela ends up behind Dalek lines, working with Time Lord agents to undermine the Dalek Empire culminating in a fateful battle at the Pillars of Consequence...

Well I really and truly enjoyed that set! Story 3 especially was wonderfully handled, Louise is quite an actress isn’t she? Jacobi is no slouch either.
I haven’t listened to other Time War sets as I was afraid they’d be lots of Daleks screaming and shooting stuff. Do the other ones compare to this?

A lot more action in the War Doctor sets but worth it, as is 8's set, and the War Master ties in to his story here.

Listened to the box set over the past few days and I'll echo several comments. The first & final installments were good but the middle entries were outstanding. I also felt like the Trump & Brexit references were perhaps a little too on the nose. Otherwise, the box set did a great job of raising the stakes for the series and for the characters. Now let's see if they can deliver a former 007 with the next box set.

I’m interested to see how everything will begin to link between the Gallifrey series, the Gallifrey portrayed in the War Doctor series and the Time War Gallifrey as seen on TV.
I think the Gallifrey: Time War range is probably going to be what brings them together by incorporating the likes of Rassilon, Ohila, Ollistra and the General. There’s also Susan and Davros, but I suspect that’ll be more in the Eighth Doctor Time War series.

So do we reckon the reviving of dead Time Lords uncovered in Celestial Intervention is how Rassilon comes back to become Gallifrey's president?
