With the somewhat surprising news that BF are doing a Tales Of New Earth spinoff I thought it would be pertinent to start a new thread to discuss our various hopes/theories for future potential New Who spinoffs.
We have the obvious choices (The Corsair Chronicles, The Pasternaster Gang Adventures, The Doctor's Daughter etc), but there's plenty more to be mined from teh worlds and stories of New Who, any suggestions?

I don't know. For me these would all be tough sells for me. I don't have much invested in characters that have only had one or two appearances.

As much as I have faith in BF, I feel like Tales of New Earth is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Unless they announce something particularly interesting about it or there's good reviews, I'll probably give it a miss.
I do think with the amount potential spinoffs from New Who, it's weird that they went with New Earth. Obviously the Paternoster Gang is the most obvious one to go with (though, it could be far too similar to J&L) but I feel Moffat is keeping open the option of having a TV spinoff with the Paternoster Gang. Not sure I'd buy the Corsair Adventures. Jenny would be fun as a one-off boxset, with maybe having her join Ten during the Specials era in the 10DAs.
The Rose Tyler: Earth Defence could be an interesting one. Just to chronicle Rose's adventures in Pete's World up to the point where she crosses back over to the normal universe.
A Mickey and Martha series could have potential too. It'd be nice if BF could explain why the sudden turnaround from Martha seemingly being engaged to Tom to suddenly being with Mickey. Always seemed random to me.
I'm not sure I'd want their own series, or whether it could be just an arc over a normal boxset, but exploring more of the Trickster's Brigade.
Another obvious one is a Clara splinters series (or maybe a one-off boxset?) where we see some of the adventures with Clara trying to stop the Great Intelligence from killing the Doctor. Though, this would probably suit better with including Classic Doctors in it, maybe? Perhaps have it similar to the River series, where it's mostly based around Clara, with the Doctors making small appearances.
That's all I can think of for now, but there's plenty of other potential spinoffs in New Who.

I really wouldn't class the Corsair chronicles as an obvious choice! We've never even seen the character. I think there's mileage in some of the other Torchwood eras, especially the 2nd world war team or the Torchwood Archive team in the far future. Or a set of short stories about racial slavery gone wrong, Tales of the UnexpectOod.

Mickey/Martha between Journey's End and The End of Time, absolutely.
Paternoster Origins, absolutely. Future stories with them, sure.
An appearance by the Corsair, Canton Delaware, Jenny, more new monsters - sure, but none of them warrant a spin-off IMO.
Maybe a one-off "Rose Tyler: Earth Defense" could be fun but I don't know that I'd care beyond a single box.

I think there's mileage in a Saxon Years boxed set, detailing exactly what happened between when The Master stole the TARDIS and The Doctor, Jack and Martha arrived back on earth. They could certainly have stories along the way featuring both UNIT and (a Harkness-free) Torchwood, as well.
If they could get Timothy Dalton, a Rassilon set detailing his resurrection and actions during the Time War might well be worth a pop.
Likewise, one day a Last Centurion set with Arthur Darvill back as Rory has some potential, one would think.
The Mickey and Martha set, as already mentioned, either inside or outside of the Torchwood range.
I imagine that the Paternoster Gang one is all but inevitable, with Starkey and Neve McIntosh both having worked frequently with Big Finish, and Catrin Stewart also having popped up in a Torchwood audio a while back. So the relationships are already in place. Plus the fan demand is clearly there. I can only imagine that either they are still a no go because Moffat or the BBC might still harbour plans for the characters elsewhere, or else perhaps Big Finish is keeping them in the back pocket at this point, maybe waiting until after they've retired Jago & Litefoot from regular duties? Who knows.
That's about all that springs to my mind, anyway.

Forgot about Dalton as Rassilon - that would be one heck of a coup - I'd gladly listen to him manipulate Gallifrey for three or four hours (especially alongside a Lalla Ward or a Jacqueline Pearce or a Ken Bones)

A few ideas off the top of my head:
- A Dalek Empire-like box set taking place in 200,100 OR, alternatively, a box set taking place on Satellite 5 in various points in its timeline.
- Pete's World. Doesn't have to necessarily involve Rose, though. If I remember correctly, Mickey spent some time there hunting down Cybermen with a few other people - that would be really interesting to explore. Also, maybe a future Torchwood release could be set on Pete's World?
- A Sally Sparrow release. Seeing as Blink is a pretty popular story and I could easily see Sally getting involved in a lot more trouble besides the Weeping Angels, why not?
- A Harriet Jones release.
- Just give Jackie Tyler her own box set in the lead role.
- A Kazran box set in the style of The Churchill Years.
I'm not exactly salivating for any of these, but I seem some great story potential in them. Besides all that, there's the obvious Paternoster Gang series, Clara Splinters box set, and Doctor's Daughter box sets - all of which I think would be very popular.

I would be shocked if Big Finish don't do a Mr and Mrs Smith (Mickey and Martha) spinoff now that they are doing something as weirdly tenuous as Tales of New Earth. I think Mr and Mrs Smith would be a great one for BF to do and possibly give us a strong narrative reason for how and why Martha and Mickey decide to become an item.

Pete's World would be an interesting one to explore. How much of it is different to our Earth that we didn't see in Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel? Does America have a monarchy? Perhaps NASA in Pete's World is actually a kids' indoor play centre, and China have always been the leading force in space exploration? Lots of potential there.

Re: The Paternoster Gang. It has been mentioned that there are currently restrictions on what BF can do with the characters - namely, they can use them individually, but not together. I'd also imagine that there'd be a *lot* of potential overlap with Jago & Litefoot.
If they can get Simm on board, then I think a boxset of stories set during the year he ruled Earth is an absolute shoo-in. But that's a big "if". Similarly, I think Maisie Williams could well be up for working with BF (when/if they get the rights to the Capaldi era).
I'd love to hear a boxset of adventures with the crew of Bowie Base One, or the Preachers before Rise of the Cybermen, but I think they might be a bit beyond the realm of possibility.
I also think it is extremely likely that BF will do something with Margaret Blaine at some point - she's the only recurring villain from Nine's era, the only recurring character exclusive to that era apart from Adam, and Annette is already a BF regular. Not sure exactly what, though. Maybe if they could get Penelope Wilton on board...

Even with the one TV appearance, I think BF would have to put some work into building the Corsair up before giving them their own solo stories. I could imagine starting out by featuring them in a Monthly Range trilogy. Or supporting status in someone else's box set. I would like to hear *something* with them. Definitely on my list of Who characters what havn't been used to their potential as of yet.

Had a thought - 1920s or 30s Amy and Rory adventures? Not unlike a Jago and Litefoot series (maybe even with an appearance by the very same in their old old age)

I'd like that, with occasional visits from Melody Malone. But being strange, I'd like it to be a proper detective series ... i.e. no Aliens Cheers Tony
