This fall: Korn and Alice in Chains. Korn: I only really like their first and latest albums, though there is the occasional song inbetween I like. I never much liked their rap-metal or whatever it was called phase or the weirder stuff in the middle. But the first and last albums are more like a mix of rock-metal-hardcore, depending. That I'll listen to. Alice in Chains? Well, ok, AIC with Staley is my favorite band. Hopefully, AIC with the new guy will be good enough at concert volume. In the past, I've watched various youtube videos of performances with the new singer and it just didn't quite do it for me. He's obviously trying and he can hit the right notes, but nobody has Staley's tone (and vibrato). New guy's tone is a little too much "I'm happy and having fun"...
I was hoping to catch the Stones while they're still going but all the tickets we'd pay for were sold out the moment we logged in to purchase. ie, 80-100 bucks range. The only ones were something like 250 and up each. Nope.
Oh and I forgot to mention it, but we caught Slash & Conspirators last tour (to promote Living the Dream) last fall (I think). It was in their break from the G n' R reunion tour. They're doing a bit more in the next break but didn't have an MA/Boston date scheduled last I checked. And btw, the Living the Dream album live sounds a lot better than over speakers. It's not bad, but didn't sound hugely inspired. (Slash always seemed to put together the best arrangements when working w/ Duff & Axl).
Live was great. And, hey, the album was free with the ticket. Though come to mind, it looks like the download was mp3 format. I usually buy music via CD than import it with a lossless format. I notice the difference easily. So that may be part of it.
I'm going to be seeing Slash every damn chance I get until one of us dies...

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

In February of 1986 Dire Straits performed in my home town of Hobart for two nights. I got to experience their concert twice. The second time was actually watching them perform, the first was going down to the shores of the Derwent River behind our house and listening to them perform about 15 kilometres upriver at King George V oval which was only a couple of hundred metres from the river. Because it's a fairly wide river with minimal twists and turns between us and KG5 the acoustics were excellent and it was as clear as a fairly quiet radio.
Another memorable concert was The Angels touring with Cheap Trick in 1990. A fantastic night of good fun rock.

Transvision Vamp in 91. Wendy James in full flow stalking the stage Brilliant. Suede with Bernard Butler still on guitar duties before their first album was released, Tivoli Theatre in Dublin. Sadly now snapped up by corporate and bullshit gentrification schemes. Also in that theatre, Grant Lee Buffalo, the Breeders and "The Weight" era Henry Rollins Band. Julian Cope on a semi-acoustic tour in Kilmainham circa Autogeddon. Great. Wacky but great. REM at Slane Castle in 1995, back when there were four of them (almost getting in a fight with Liam Gallagher when I nearly stood on his hand while walking through the field.) Morrissey a few years ago. An amazing show. I've put his music aside for a bit while he rants and raves incoherent politics. The Sisters of Mercy at the Roundhouse...just great. In fact the only time I've been disappointed by a band at a live gig was Placebo, and that was because they sounded EXACTLY like the album they'd just released. I could have stayed at home and listened to it. There's more, these are just a few. Oh, Arcade Fire on their Neon Bible tour, amazing gig.

I used to see a lot more music than I do now, although I still try to go to local bars and stuff and see live music when I can. My brother-in-law is a couple of really good local cover bands so I do go out and see him when possible.
Memorable shows: My first concert: John Denver in 1980. Hey, I was 11 and my older sister took me, whom I idolized
In high school: Billy Joel (fantastic showman!), Duran Duran, Genesis (went cause my group of friends had an extra ticket, I was completely bored), Sting (great show). I saw The Monkees twice, I loved them. Really fun, they knew how to entertain an audience. I had tickets to see The Police, but they broke up right before they came back to New York for the second leg of the Synchronicity tour. I was devastated at the time.
College: Peter Gabriel, one of the best shows ever; Paul McCartney, Yes, Squeeze...I know there were more, but I can't remember. Oh, college....
Others...Live, James (great show!), REM, U2.
Bob Mould: Saw him play a solo acoustic set in a small club in Boston. Great show. He blew a guitar string, restrung his guitar, blew another one and then proceeded to sit and tell us stories for 15-20 min while his roadie or whoever found another one and brought it out to him.
Woodstock '94 (25th Anniversary celebration) MUDstock!!!!! Went with my boyfriend at the time, who ended up being my husband and now my ex. Got there on the bus Friday and left late on Sunday. Sheryl Crow played on Friday. She had 2 songs on the radio and people were just starting to buzz about her. Rollins was great. Green Day! Man, did they put on a show! Melissa Etheridge, Aerosmith, Allman Bros, Crosby Stllls and Nash, Joe Cocker, Peter Gabriel...so many. At one point I got a little knocked around in the crowd and had to take a break. One night of the show we ran into my boyfriend's ex-brother-in-law, looking like hell, completely wasted on something and broke as could be. He began telling us that he had gotten busted on a drug charge a few weeks earlier and was supposed to be in court but decided that going to the concert was a better choice. he told us this while spitting all over our pizza, so he ended up getting a free meal out of the chance meeting.

I very rarely attend concerts. The last one I went to prior to this month was an all-ages show by Tom Chapin, Harry Chapin’s brother. He does two kinds of concerts. One is mostly kid’s stuff off his own albums and the other is Chapin Family classics likes Cats in the Cradle. That was in 2012.
I saw Amy Rigby perform at a bookstore outside of Philly on November 3rd. She is the kind of singer who seems like she would have been much more well known if she had been even slightly luckier. Not a Mariah Carey level of fame, but say Loreena McKennitt. She just never got that last lucky break.
Many of her songs are at least partially autobiographical. The event was a book signing. She would read an excerpt, then play the associated song. She’s just lovely, charming, funny and she sounds great in person.
The other performer I saw was Robyn Hitchcock, just yesterday. It was bittersweet, because two close friends who were big fans died young and unexpectedly. I wish I could have shared the experience with them.
Robyn is lively in person. Unlike Amy Rigby, he’s exactly as famous as he deserves to be, because he’s just such a delightful weirdo. I cannot see that appealing to a larger audience. The first half of the show was newer stuff and the second half was his classic songs.

Since Korn seems to have gone back to metal, we're seeing them again late this month. From album #1 Korn have been massive in Australia. I was about 20-21 when their 1st album was released, I never "got" them.. But over the last few months I have. I saw them years ago here supporting G'N'R and the place went CRAZY for every song- live they were very good.
Hopefully they will announce an Aussie tour- I reckon I will go

Yeah, they put on a great show.
I liked the first album quite a bit. Heavy and angry, close to metal if not metal. Didn't think much of the second one. Weirdly, it was far lighter. Really liked a few songs from the third, but not the rest. Fourth was mostly a dud for me. And then I didn't pay any attention until stumbling across some article saying the 2016 album was a return to form, and it is indeed back to a metal sound (though different from the first). Haven't listened through the latest one yet.
Saw them along with AIC. Double-header. That was this fall. One hell of a show. (Edit: oh, hah. Said that at the top of this page...)

I've mostly been to classical music concerts in my life. I do remember going to a Gordon Lightfoot concert when I was in high school. Not such a big concert goer, I guess.

Regular concert goer here, I have 1 actually coming up in 1 weeks time, ex Judas Priest singer.. I also this week won a concert ticket to see a legendary metal band who officially heavily influenced the big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax)..
I am either right up the front leaning on the stage/barrier or right at the back away from the middle hordes of chaos people. Old man arthritis for well over 30 years now unfortunately.

yes he was amazing! when Phil introduced the band he said "and my little boy on drums" and the crowd went crazy! this was in Boston, MA. he also told us the story of Genesis' first US concert in the Boston area in 1972!
