A fun way to spend half an hour, a battle of wills between the Sixth Doctor and a murderous fuzzy wuzzy! Beep is a great, and adorable, character who needs to return in some capacity. Maybe an encounter with Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. I'd buy that story.
The satire on reality TV and the downturn in quality of programming in general is very topical. Ahead of its time considering this was released in 2002, when today we've got more reality shows than you can poke a gun at, and far more than we'd ever need. I mean, Married at First Sight? The Doctor's rant about how TV limited him, and how he needs a medium where he can be louder is an obvious jab at his short period on TV. Beep and Friends going on an 18 month hiatus is just as subtle, only I don't see a return once that period is lifted.
The theme song for Beep and Friends really is catchy. I've got half a mind to swing a cat until its head is bludgeoned.
I wonder what Beep would get up to in 2017. Probably those YouTube challenges, or a Beep the Meep emoji. He'd definitely be using social media.
By the way, this is free so you've no excuse not to give this a listen.

I love this
Its just so perfectly silly.
The 4th wall breaking comments and the hysterical ranting nature of the Most High
And yes it would still work with social media as the basis.
Regards

Regards mark687 A YouTube angle would be a good way to work it today. Viral marketing in the hands of adowable fwuffy Beep would be the end of the human race. Wait, what if Beep teamed up with the Scorchies? Keep the track playing after the end of the Invaders from Mars preview, you'll get more ranting (watching all those cute animals really damaged Beep!) and the full version of the Beep and Friends tune.

There's a DWM comic where the Eighth Doctor and Izzy chase Beep into the real world. That would be a brilliant set-up for an audio, where Beep escapes into our world, the recording studio, and the Doctor has to come after him. Doctor and the actor playing him interact. It leaves nothing left of the fourth wall, but for one glorious story surely it'd be worth it? Imagine Colin Baker teaming up with the Sixth Doctor! Tempting Beep out with the lunch Toby prepares. The news item announcing the story could even be something like Beep would write!

It would be a bit rich to start charging for it now. (Unless collating it with other stuff.) It was made in my house you know. I remember it well.

They should do that again with Big Finish. They could cut down on costs by making it downloads.

The last few were downloads. I wonder why they don't do it anymore then? It might have something to do with the free previews - they give away an episode or so a month now which they didn't do previously.

Just listened, it's great fun. Amazing that the satire seems more relevant than ever. Actually that's pretty damning on modern culture...
