Alternatively, if I'm correct, this is released the same day as the last day of the Google Audio Books 50% voucher. So, fingers crossed, we might be able to get it on download for £2.50.... Then again, Kobo offers a first Audiobook for free if you sign up for a trial subscription to their audiobook service, so that's worth considering as well, although it doesn't seem to be possible to sign up to this with a pre-order. Yeah you're correct, the 50% off Google audio book offer ends the same day as this is released though think it would be better to use it on something more expensive + longer. For example: - John Wyndham: A BBC Radio Drama Collection: Six classic BBC radio adaptations @ 11 hours can be bought for £4 after applying 50% off play.google.com/store/audiobooks/details/John_Wyndham_John_Wyndham_A_BBC_Radio_Drama_Collec?id=AQAAAADiUhxS7Mor - Inspector Morse: BBC Radio Drama Collection: Three classic full-cast dramatisations @ 4 hrs 38 mins which is also £4 if you use the discount play.google.com/store/audiobooks/details/Colin_Dexter_Inspector_Morse_BBC_Radio_Drama_Colle?id=AQAAAIA9ywRLKMSame with the free audiobook from Kobo, best to get something more expensive, like: - Doctor Who: The Master Collection @ 23 hrs 29 mins www.kobo.com/gb/en/audiobook/doctor-who-the-master-collectionStill undecided what I'm going to buy using my Google 50% discount voucher.

I found the Nest Cottage stories to be rather flimsy. I didn't mind the format - The Doctor's telling you a story! - but I found the stories themselves rather wanting. Paul Magrs recent work for Big Finish however has been good, so I'll defiantly be buying regardless.

Nudge - you're probably right (barking mad, but even without discounts the anthology "Echoes of Sherlock Holmes" appears to be cheaper on audio than in print).
On the other hand, why not take up the opportunity to be royally ripped-off?
Remember the two sixth Doctor/Jago & Litefoot audios from a few years ago, that had very low pre-order prices as an experiment? BF still sell them - "Voyage to the New World" is £4.99 on download or £9.99 on CD. However, Kobo are offering it on download for £9.56! (Or, admittedly, free as part of their subscription service trial).

Nope its been like that for like 3 years at least, I think.

Has Anyone’ listen to this release as of yet?! I’ve just got my copy and hopefully will be listening tonight, but I thought I’d ask and see what everyone else’s thoughts on it was...

Has Anyone’ listen to this release as of yet?! I’ve just got my copy and hopefully will be listening tonight, but I thought I’d ask and see what everyone else’s thoughts on it was... TommyP I've just finished it! I quite liked it, and it's set up very much as the first installment in another Nest Cottage series. Whether we'll get the rest.... well, who knows? Susan Jameson does a wonderful Tom Baker, and the story is related to us by Mrs Wibbsey after the fact, so it works from that sort of standpoint. There's nice sound design throughout, with incidental music, sound effects, etc. The story itself is good and works as a standalone while at the same time leaving things open for continuing runins with the new adversary. I wonder if this was originally slated as part of the fourth Nest Cottage series that was put on hold. But yes, I'd recommend it

Oooh didn’t know about this, I loved the Nest Cottage series and felt the 4DAs took a while to catch up with them for quality so I’m on board for this. Of course I tend to love Magrs’ work when at its most whimsical, so these were almost custom made for me,

I'm waiting for my copy to arrive - I'm in Australia, so it'll be maybe a week after UK customers...

But yes, I'd recommend it Yes, I think if this had been a semi-acted production, it would have been one of the better episodes, and it's definitely got a hook for more stories (although not very many more, since the Doctor's already in his burgundy phase - but on the other hand, wouldn't it be interesting to advance to another Doctor?). My only quibble is that Paul Magrs appears to be writing for twenty-first-century-Tom-Baker not 1970s-fourth-Doctor - maybe it's just me, but I don't think that addressing everybody as 'my dear' is authentic to the character. (Oh, and Google Play Audiobooks don't let you download an mp3. )
